It’s a real shame that there are By Georgiatoons so many PROVOCATURES in our movement who thrive on passing false information to others. The internet can be a dangerous platform for venting and revenge. From a political standpoint, we look as if we are too busy fighting amongst ourselves to be productive and it is time that we united to make a strong and supportive stance. If you have something destructive to say, then perhaps you should bite your tongue and keep it to yourself. I really hope that a movement that has had many differ- ent factions can work together to build a future where we provide a united front. Most of my readers will be well aware that Treating Yourself has just come through the other end of putting on the first ever Medical Marijuana and Hemp Expo in Toronto this year. This event was extremely professional, united some of the major businesses in our industry across the globe and attracted nothing but positive media attention. There was an emphasis on the medical benefits of marijuana in the hope that we educate those who are interested in an alter- native form of treatment. The visitors and vendors gave nothing but positive feedback and this will become an annual event. For a first time event, the attendance was pretty good and as is the case with other events, it will only increase as word gets around. Next year, I will make some adjustments to improve the show as it is a work in progress and will improve like a fine wine. Finally, I would also like to thank all of our sponsors and vendors who had faith in me to pull off such an enormous event. As I was alone, several people jumped in to help out on a vol- untary basis too and I will remain eternally grateful to them. I also need to say an enormous thank you to my parents who have been extremely supportive and patient. Without them, none of this would have been possible. Due to all the stress that I have gone through these past twelve months I was badly in need of a rest, so my fiancé and I decided to take a much deserved holiday in Mexico for two weeks. I am hoping to get back home fresh and rejuve- nated so that I can continue to try and help med patients in need as well as fight this ongoing battle. Most importantly, I would ask that all of our readers write to their MP , Justice Minister as well as Prime Minister Harper in asking that they allow Marc Emery to serve his UNJUST sen- tence back home in Canada. Evidence from (unintended) liberalization in Italy Vincenzo Carrieri; Leonardo Madio and Francesco Principe June 2018 http://www.york.ac.uk/economics/postgrad/herc/hedg/wps/ Light cannabis and organized crime. Evidence from (unintended) liberalization in Italy Vincenzo Carrieri1 Leonardo Madio2 Francesco Principe3 University of Salerno University of York University of Salerno HEDG, University of York HEDG, University of York RWI Research Network Abstract The effect of marijuana liberalization on crime is object of a large interest by social scientists and policy-makers. However, due to the scarcity of relevant data, the displacement effect of liberalization on the supply of illegal drugs remained substantially unexplored. This paper exploits the unintended liberalization of cannabis light (C-light, i.e. with low THC) occurred in Italy in December 2016 by means of a legislative gap, to assess its effect in a quasi-experimental setting. Although the liberalization interested all the Italian territory, the intensity of liberalization in the short-run varied according to the pre-liberalization market configuration of grow-shops, i.e. shops selling industrial canapa-related products that have been able to first place the canapa flowers (C-light) on the new market. We exploit this variation in a Differences-in-Differences design using a unique dataset on monthly confiscations of drugs at province level (NUTS-3 level) over the period 2016-2018 matched with data on the geographical location of shops and socio-demographic variables. We find that the legalization of C-light led to a reduction of 11-12% of confiscation of marijuana per each pre-existing grow-shop and a significant reduction of other canapa-derived drugs (plants of cannabis and hashish).

In the brain, most areas prevalently having cannabinoid receptors have been associated with behavioral control and cognitive effects due to cannabinoids. Study over the last several decades suggested cannabinoids (CBs) exert copious oftentimes opposite effects on countless neuronal receptors and processes. In fact, owing to this plethora of effects, it’s still cryptic how CBs trigger neuronal circuits. Cannabis use has been revealed to cause cognitive deficits from basic motor coordination to more complex executive functions, for example, the aptitude to plan, organize, make choices, solve glitches, remember, and control emotions as well as behavior. Numerous factors like age of onset and duration of cannabis use regulate the severity of the difficulties. People with the cannabis-linked deficiency in executive functions have been found to have trouble learning and applying the skills requisite for fruitful recovery, setting them at amplified risk for deterioration to cannabis use.
