In a frantic opening 5minutes, Wrexham looked dangerous: high press forcing Fylde defenders little time on the ball to pick a pass. Wrexham’s pressure gained them many set-pieces which they looked dangerous from, but were unable to convert any of this pressure into any concrete goal scoring opportunities. Fylde looked threatening on the counter and after the initial hectic start, Fylde regrouped and sat deep going from a fluid 4-3-3 to a rigid 4-5-1 with Rowe isolated. This stifled the half with neither team looking right creating any opportunities. Fylde scored a well taken goal from Hemmings (blasting across the GK down to his left and into the side netting). Wrexham will feel it was a very avoidable goal. The second half was the same with Fylde sitting back, looking for quick counters, but Wrexham never stretched or moved the defence around enough to cause any problems. A well worked second, played through the thirds, resulted in the same result as Hemmings smashed it across the keeper to end the game as a contest. Timi Odusina: Very solid game at right back. Nothing got past him, but not much came down his side. Posit ioning could be better, but I would like to see him play centre half. Does need to mature physically, but playing at National League level will help develop this. .
