By so many indicators, our Base is on track to have the best year ever! We’re up to 170 members ― the biggest crew ever for Perch Base and firmly planting us in the USSVI “Big Boy” Class I category. It almost seems like we add members at each monthly meeting. So what’s the reason for the growing spurt? Because we are interested in our Base and it’s contagious to those submariners we talk to who haven’t yet joined USSVI. We show our spirit by what we wear, proud to have our custom (front and back) hat. But we are an active Base and plan to remain that way. Our static displays and parades, both with the USS Phoenix float, are a great way to pal around with each other and talk to the public about who we are and what we did. If you haven’t participated in these, you really should. It’s sometimes amazing to people when we crack open the door to the, “Silent Service.” But what else has changed. -
