The Very Reverend Collins E. Asonye Member of the Clerical Order to serve as the deputy to Province III

Collins is the of Meade Memorial Episcopal Church, Alexandria in the Diocese of Virginia, in the last elven years. Previously, he served in the Diocese of Ohio for ten years. While in Ohio, he provided leadership in a variety of ministry including: Province V, Director for Ministry in Higher Education, the of West Deanery and the Diocesan Revitalization Team to mention but a few. Before moving to USA in 1998, he served more than ten years in the Church of Nigeria.

While serving as a in Nigeria, he provided excellent leadership, mentoring and development of younger . In the last 11 years, he has focused more in raising his two young children – (Dr. Gospel Enyindah Asonye and Mr. Reward Igwugum Asonye) and serving the Parish. Now, he would love to devote more time and resources engaged in the ministry of our Diocese. He has demonstrated is commitment in various ways. In 2017, he served the uncompleted term at the Diocesan Executive Board, and in 2018, as a Deputy to Province III completing the unexpired term, as well.

Fr. Asonye has the breadth of experience and leadership qualities, which will allow him to serve effectively and with dedication. He has the gift for clarity of vision, thoughtfulness, a non-anxious presence, team spirit, servant-leadership, dynamic, an excellent listener, and commitment to the diocese and the wider Church. He hold Master Degrees in Theology (Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio, and Master of Science Information Systems and Technology Management (George Washington University, DC).

This is a particular important and exciting time to work with Province III as the 2021 General Convention of the Episcopal Church will be hosted by the Diocese of Maryland in Baltimore. Fr. Asonye has the calling, time, energy and the resources required to serve as a deputies to Province III from the Diocese of Virginia. If elected, (Called), I will hit the ground running.
