HayesThis volume remains strong but due to the distance in the release dates, I would suggest going back to the previous volume to see what happens. This volume wouldn't be a good one to jump into the series at because it starts off right in the middle of the time travel arc. Even I had to take a step back to find my bearings with the volume. I was confused if it was taking place in the future or back in the past. Fortunately things are clarified very quickly.Content wise, it is a fantastic volume that helps to get Yamato to evolve his God Ultimo to be somewhat better at challenging Rune's Karakuridoji as well as Vice Back From The Dark. Vice took a back seat in this volume as well as many other antagonists. However extensive time with Rune made up for it. Additionally, we did get some backstory for both Rune and Yamato.I loved the art for this volume a lot. The mecha design of the Karakuridoji (henge) looked incredible. Overlay them onto a ancient Japan landscape and it feels really unique and looks really good. The scenes rivaled that of some of the best Gundam (prominent mecha franchise) scenes even.Overall it was a great volume and one that makes me wish for more. I want to see who wins the Hundred Machine War and if Yamato can truly bring the Good and Evil Doji together.Extras included numerous profiles on the doji and a long afterword from Stan Lee. About the AuthorUnconventional author/artist Hiroyuki Takei began his career by winning the coveted Hop Step Award (a monthly award given by WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP for amateur artists) and the Osamu Tezuka Award (named after the famous artist of the same name). After working as an assistant to famed artist Nobuhiro Watsuki, Takei debuted in WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP in 1997 with BUTSU ZONE, an action series based on Buddhist mythology.
