Little Ferry 2-Car MVA on Rt. 46 Bridge At about 0930 hours on March 14, 2012, the Little Ferry Fire Department and First Aid Squad were dispatched to the Rt. 46 Bridge for a motor ve- hicle accident with injuries. First arriving EMTs found a 2-car head-on motor ve- hicle accident with one person trapped in a SUV. The driver of the car was removed and transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Under the command of Fire Chief Floyd Novak, members of the Engine Company and Hook and Ladder Company worked to extricate the SUV driver using the Jaws of Life. Once the door was re- moved, EMTs treated the driver and transported her to Holy Name Hospital with minor injuries. Story and photos by Rob Knobloch. ###

Carlstadt MVA Requires Extrication On February 24, 2012, a vehicle struck a tree on Garden Street in Carlstadt. Extrication using the "Jaws of Life" required a Carlstadt fi refi ghter to shield the victim (both were under the red cover in the above photos), as the vehicle roof and doors were removed. Paramedics arrived and administered an IV. The woman was transported to HUMC by the Carlstadt Vol- unteer Ambulance Corps. Assisting Carlstadt emergency services were Wood-Ridge and Wallington Fire Departments. Condition of the victim was unknown. Photos by Dennis Kronyak Sr. ###
