Broadcast messages Jed Stone: ‘Tex Tucker’ - Chairman of TPS - Saturday Morning Supporters Club Bovrilla Notice:- As many of the supporters are aware a specimen of Bovrilla was taken to Spodlink University for analysis. Unfortunately a sudden and unexpected outbreak of ‘Brazilian Swamp Fever’ amongst the lab technicians soon after the specimen’s arrival resulted in the specimen having to be sent on to another laboratory somewhere south of London. As soon as any test results are known supporters will be informed. On a lighter note, Jack Lidgute, Club Historian, has been delving into the history of the third division clubs and has come up with the following on Frillby United. In 1943 the site on which Twixby Lane (Frillby United’s ground) now stands was the site of the Spodlink Abattoir and Glue Factory. (By all accounts an evil smelling place.) The owner of the abattoir was Lord Percy Twixby a rich, well-known sports enthusiast, whose country house was unfortunately well within smelling range of the factory. In late 1943 the Germans destroyed the factory in a bombing raid apparently mistaking it for the aircraft factory, which was situated on the other side of town. (Rumours that ‘AIRCRAFT FACTORY’ had been painted on the roof in big friendly letters just prior to the raid were never proved.) From the insurance money Lord Twixby founded Frillby United and re built the factory several miles down wind of his front door. It’s a story that gently echoes with our current situation here at ACME Park! 3. Apprentices discovered None. 4. Once again, they were stronger, and then they lost by three. Botanica - Formula 1 Legends 7 : 3 Scorers: Lunaria annua (14., 33., 44., 51.), Rubus Caesius (4., 47.), Vinca Minor (57.) ***Ralf Schuhmacher (22., 46.), Kimi Raikkonen (52.) Magical World - St. Helens 2 : 3 Scorers: Sam (50.), Namo (41.) ***fightagainstall (23.), Gervasio Guedes (50.), notagainstformula1 (54.) Magical World picked the better strategy and thus had the upper hand, but couldn't capitalise when St. Helens were luckier. Ubermenschen - FC Asskickers 1 : 0 Scorers: Marx (34.) ***--- A deserved win for a strong Ubermenschen, thus closing the gap from four to two points up to silver medals. Rosedale Premiership Match day 18 ================================== FC Asskickers - Erkrath Gladiators 2 : 0 Scorers: John Cena (37.), McCloud (47.) ***--- FC Asskickers remain unbeaten at home and catch up on points with table toppers Currents of Space, but the latter have yet to play this matchday. The Lunatics' fantastic away record gets a little blow, but they seem pretty certain to stay up now... St. Helens - Ubermenschen 4 : 2 Scorers: Thisseasonisveryhard (15., 35., 59.) ***Marx (18.), Habermas (56.) Penalties: 1 ***- (1 missed) Booked: --- ***Borchert Former champions St. Helens pull off a double win weekend and with that join the fight for medals. Feyenoord - Magical World 1 : 0 Scorers: Miles Davis (36.) ***--- Penalties: - ***- (1 missed) Booked: --- ***Oughat With the home crowd backing, Feyenoord were a little stronger, and as Magical World missed their penalty, the home team gets away with both points. Formula 1 Legends - Currents of Space 3 : 2 Scorers: Damon Hill (39.), Lewis Hamilton (85.) ***Niklas van Rijn (48.) Penalties: 1 ***1 Booked: Nick Heidfeld, Ralf Schuhmacher ***Speaker-to-animals Visitors Currents of Space actually managed somewhat of an upper hand here, but Formula 1 Legends came through with a one goal win. And once again, it's goal difference separating the top two teams! Serial Killers - Botanica 0 : 0 An even game ends goallessly, though both teams could easily have scored. Fjortoft's Friends - Enga 4 : 0 Scorers: Sebi (64.), Fantastic Fanis (3.), Holz (24.) ***--- Penalties: 1 ***- Sent off: --- ***Nicolai Naess (4.) Booked: --- ***Mohamed Sayyed Tantawi, Mos With an early red card, Enga had no chance to stand up to Fjortoft's Friends. The Championship Match day 17 ============================== Kremlin - Slartibartfast FC 0 : 0 Booked: --- ***Fenchurch, Judiciary Pag Kremlin dominated this game, but couldn't score and only get one point. Not good for their promotion ambitions... Night Owls - Stars 0 : 0 A slight upper hand for the home team, but Stars managed to hold on to the draw. Fantasy Finale - Desassossego Blues 2 : 1 Scorers: Bilbo (83.), Dox (20.) ***Thomas Crosse (57.) Booked: Renarin ***--- The top two teams faced off here, and by claiming both points, Fantasy Finale increases the gap between them from three to five. I imagine only Chicken Run may catch Fantasy Finale now. Love Songs - ENPS 1 : 1 Scorers: Feel the Love (8.) ***--- Penalties: - ***1 Booked: Feel the Love ***--- A slight upper hand to the home side, but ENPS managed to even the score on a penalty. It's still a race between them for safe ground, but the visitors have to be happy with this result. Dummys - WrapUp 3 : 1 Scorers: Homer (4.), Jaap (56.), Koos (7.) ***Keep pushing (84.) Despite a solid upper hand for WrapUp, Dummys claimed the win and move up to only be goal difference behind second place, with one match yet to be played in this matchday. Call of Cthulhu - Chicken Run 2 : 2 Scorers: The Strange House in the Mist (29., 37.) ***Ann Kristin (61.), Doro Pesch (43.) Sent off: The Lurking Fear (85.) ***--- Booked: --- ***Lena, Wenona Visiting Chicken Run were a little stronger here, but the Strange House in the Mist - which would've been High if there was room - secured one point for Call of Cthulhu. The Championship Match day 18 ============================== Chicken Run - Kremlin 1 : 0 Scorers: Lisa (63.) ***--- A slow game, but Chicken Run found the one goal they needed to win. WrapUp - Call of Cthulhu 2 : 3 Scorers: I need your help (12.), LMGTFY (46.) ***The Strange House in the Mist (16., 53.), Northern Pygmy-Owl (70.) Sent off: --- ***The Very Old Folk (35.) Booked: --- ***He, The Lurking Fear, The Strange House in the Mist WrapUp were actually stronger here too, but also Call of Cthulhu managed to win against the run of play. All teams near the bottom are unbeaten so far this round, but WrapUp aren't among the clubs that should get nervous because of that. ENPS - Dummys 1 : 5 Scorers: Marco Wielemakers (49.) ***Homer (7., 63.), Jaap (86.), Koos (60.), Teun (73.) Booked: --- ***Moris Dummys were straonger here, and managed to turn that into a big win. Desassossego Blues - Love Songs 2 : 0 Scorers: Alvaro de Campos (7.) ***--- Penalties: 1 ***- Booked: Ricardo Reis ***Only the good die young A solid win for the Blues means they're still very much in the promotion race. Stars - Fantasy Finale 1 : 3 Scorers: Pollux (42.) ***Dox (2., 22.), Jagersmann (64.) Booked: Mirfak ***--- A practically exactly even game, but table toppers Fantasy Finale were luckier and won. Slartibartfast FC - Night Owls 1 : 0 Scorers: Hurling Frootmig (48.) ***--- Fairly even, but with the home team a little stronger and they managed to capitalise on that. Division 1 Match day 17 ======================== Dead Dino Storage - Stadium Dreams 4 : 2 Scorers: Rick Wakeman (61., 80.), John Lees (83.), Robert Fripp (16.) ***Ashton Gate (39., 90.) A game both teams really needed to win in their bid to stay up, and the visitors never came close - this was Dead Dino Storage's game. Only two points behind safe ground, which conveniently is Botnen rival team ForEverton! the Professors of Jazz - Valiant City 3 : 1 Scorers: Dizzy Gillespie (71., 76.), Chet Baker (38.) ***Sally Savestopper (19.) Although Valiant City were the stronger side, Professors of Jazz managed to claim both points. ForEverton - Tamriel Athletic 1 : 1 Scorers: Shane Duffy (2.) ***Torolf (7.) Booked: Shane Duffy ***--- ForEverton were fairly lucky to claim a point here, but Shane Duffy certainly was fighting hard this match. Dirigentia con Brio - Queen 3 : 0 Scorers: Karl Bohm (3., 20.), Stefan Asbury (46.) ***--- Sent off: --- ***It's Late (28.) Table toppers Dirigentia con Brio show no mercy on their way to the Championship.

Fortunately, with our lack of involvement in the Cup means less match days, so the odds of such an 'occurrence' resulting in a loss of life are only 1 in 14 - and that does not even take into account the propensity for our supporters to leave early. We believe by encouraging continued poor showings from the team, supporters will be further discouraged from staying on til the fulltime whistle, further decreasing the likelihood of any "catastrophe".

  • Epsom Derby & Oaks
Marten Julian’s Epsom Derby & Oaks ONLINE PREVIEW Friday 5 June The Investec Oaks (1m 4f) (4.30) Writing this on Thursday I am assuming the ground will be riding good for the start of the meeting. The going was on the soft side earlier in the week, but temperatures are set to rise and conditions could be quick by Friday unless the forecast thunderstorms hit the course. If they do, then they could bring up to 5mm of rain, which would ease the ground to good to soft, if not softer. There is nothing more frustrating in an analysis of form than a late change in ground conditions, so this uncertainty has to be factored into my preview. Visually the most impressive performance I have seen has come from Crystal Zvezda when she won a Listed trial stakes at Newbury in May. Rated just 78 at the time, on the strength of her maiden win at Lingfield in October, she beat the 98-rated Montalcino going away by three and a half lengths, with 90-rated Pamona half a length back in third. On figures she ran to a mark of around 103, 4lb lower than her new mark of 107. Crystal Zvezda won the race in the manner of a very talented filly. Last in the early stages and still with a wall of horses in front of her a quarter of a mile from home, she was switched approaching the final furlong and in just a couple of strides went clear of her rivals to win with loads in hand.
