Lambs are a specialist manufacturer of hand pressed architectural terracotta and faience. The company manufactures bespoke ceramics to match all architectural periods.

Every piece of Lambs terracotta and faience is individually hand formed to a meticulous standard by our highly skilled craftsmen. Our ceramicists are passionate about their profession.

They are sculptors and mould makers who can hand press and finish architectural ceramics to the highest standards. Their works are comparable to the craftsmen of James Stiff and Son, Coade Stone and Doulton.

The skills of Lambs’ ceramicists have been honed through years of experience yet their foundation is a deep academic understanding of design, manufacture, historical methods and cutting edge techniques.

Every item of Lambs terracotta and faience is personally signed; something our ceramicists are simply not prepared to do unless it is perfect.

We have purchased computer-controlled kilns to ensure the colour and size consistency of our ceramics. We can produce a range of colour samples for your approval within days.

When we are fully satisfied with a piece of terracotta or faience we take the same care delivering it to you as we have creating it.

For Lambs, making isn’t merely a business; it is in our blood. Lambs have been hand-making bricks for over 100 years. Since Victorian times, the skills we employ have been passed from father to son. Our heritage is our foundation yet we continually refine our production process blending the best of traditional skills with the latest modern techniques.

Our brickworks in Kent and Sussex hand make traditional bricks in a unique range of colours and finishes. Lambs use ancient clamp burning techniques to introduce subtle colour variations to our products. When required, we can also ensure colour consistency using computer-controlled kilns.

As well as bricks, Lambs also manufacture traditional and pre-formed arches. We hand make all types of arches to suit any architectural period.

Lambs have an extensive series of rigorous quality control checks throughout our manufacturing process. If we don’t believe a product is correct, it won’t leave our brickworks.

Lambs own the distribution rights to the only surviving operational Wealden Sussex Sandstone deposits. This attractive stone has been highly valued as a construction material since the time of the Normans.

Highly durable and fine-grained, Wealden Sussex Sandstone was chosen for many notable buildings such as Battle Abbey, Wakehurst Place and . Local manor houses and churches constructed from our stone date from the twelfth century, testament to the longevity of this unique material.

Wealden Sussex Sandstone has not been readily available for many years. Considerable investment has been made in extraction and finishing equipment so a supply of consistent natural stone is again assured.

Lambs’ Wealden Sussex Sandstone is supplied in honey and oatmeal shades that subtly age to Autumnal colours. The stone has delicate natural striations, formed one hundred and thirty five million years ago. When extracted the stone is initially soft, yet quickly acquires a durable veneer.

Two benches of stone are offered. A top grade material suitable for masonry and carved work and a building grade, ideal for dry stone walling and quality construction.

Our stone is particularly suited for creative landscaping projects and individual properties where clients demand a product that is distinctive, yet subtle.

Our service is comprehensive; we offer the masonry trade raw stone and finished materials to the construction industry and private clients.

As well as Wealden Sussex Sandstone, Lambs carry large stocks of other natural stone.
