Marlborough Parks & Recreation 2021 Spring/Summer Programs (Front & Back) Registration begins March 1st – online, in person, or via mail www.marlboroughct.net. For more info, call 860-295-6203. Youth Programs – Arts/Crafts Artventureswithkids! – Grades K-4, Thursdays, 4:15 – 5:15pm, April 8th – May 20th at the Marlborough Senior Center. Art travelers go on a whirlwind tour of the world, traveling among different countries and cultures. Create hot air balloon lanterns to take you up and away! Each week we land somewhere in the world and create wicked cool cultural art using unique materials and artisans’ techniques. Cost is $99.00 for residents/$104.00 for non-residents. Music/Dance Tiny Twirlers Dance Class - Ages 2-3 with caregiver, Mondays, 5:30pm-6:00pm, April 26th - June 7th. Children will be introduced to basic dance moves, work on their motor skills, and develop a sense of music. Lots of fun, smiles and movement exploration! All classes held at Dance Dynamics in Hebron. Registration fee is $85.00. (No class May 31st) Tiny Twirlers Dance Class - Ages 2-3 with caregiver, Saturdays, 8:40am-9:10am, May 1st - June 12th. Children will be introduced to basic dance moves, work on their motor skills, and develop a sense of music. Lots of fun, smiles and movement exploration! All classes held at Dance Dynamics in Hebron. Registration fee is $85.00. (No class May 29th) Classes/Activities Kids Intro to Machine Sewing 101 – Ages 8-18, Thursdays, March 11th - April 1st, 5:30 – 7:00pm. Kids will learn the basics of machine operation, sewing basics seams, hems, elastic application and more. Projects will vary, materials will be delivered. All participants must have their own sewing machine. Class instruction is virtual & provided by Miss Ashley. Registration fee is $103.00 resident/$108.00 non-resident. Kids Sewing - Kids Bunny Slippers – Grades 4-8, Monday, March 29th, 3:15 – 4:30pm. Kids will create fleece booties complete with bunny ears perfect for Easter morning! Each participant will take home their projects. All supplies are included. Class instruction is virtual & provided by Miss Ashley. Registration fee is $38.00 resident/$43.00 non-resident. Kid’s Easter Candy Workshop – Grades 4 - 8, Tuesday, March 30th, 3:15 – 4:15pm at the Marlborough Senior Center. Kids will temper chocolate to make Easter bunnies and other fun treats! Class instruction provided by Miss Ashley. Registration fee is $28.00 residents/$33.00 non-residents. Skyhawks Mini –Hawk (Soccer, Baseball and Basketball) – Ages 4 – 6, Thursdays, April 1st – April 29th, 4:30pm – 5:30pm. This multi-sport program gives children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of each sport are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a focus on fun. Registration fee $85.00 residents/$90.00 non-residents. This program will be held at Blish Park. Skyhawks Multi - Sport (Soccer, Baseball and Basketball) – Ages 7 – 10, Thursdays, April 1st – April 29th, 5:30pm – 6:30pm. This multi-sport program is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. Athletes will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. Registration fee $85.00 residents/$90.00 non-residents. This program will be held at Blish Park. Kids Sewing – PJ Pants – Ages 8-18, Tuesday, April 6th, 5:30 – 7:00pm. Kids will make their own fun print Fleece PJs while learning elastic application and hemming. Class instruction is virtual & provided by Miss Ashley. All materials for the project are provided. Registration fee is $43.00 resident/$48.00 non-resident. Soccer Shots Mini – Age 2, Saturdays, April 17th – June 12th, 3pm – 3:45pm at the West Road baseball field. Registration fee is $100.00 resident/$105.00 non-resident. Kids Sewing – Stretch and Sew Leggings – Ages 8 – 18, Wednesday, April 21st, 5:30 – 7:00pm. Kids will make their own fun print leggings while learning elastic application and hemming. Materials will be delivered. Class instruction is virtual & provided by Miss Ashley. All materials for the project are provided. Registration fee is $43.00 resident/$48.00 non-resident. Mad Science – Mad Labs – Grades K-6, Tuesdays, April 27th – June 15th, 3:15pm – 4:15pm at the Marlborough Senior Center. Topics covered this session are optical illusions, lights, color, walloping weather, sonic sounds & earthworks. Participants get a cool take home project every week. Cost is $150 resident/$155 for non-residents. This is an 8 week class. Kids Fashion Sketching – Ages 8-18, Mondays, May 3rd & 10th, 5:30 – 7:00pm. Kids will make mood boards and turn this inspiration into a collection of fashion sketches. Class instruction is virtual & provided by Miss Ashley. Tennis Lessons – Ages 5-7, Mondays, May 10th – June 7th, 3:45pm – 4:30pm at the Blish Park Tennis Court. Players will develop new skills and techniques through enjoyable activities and drills. The classes will be run by Shaun Keane who has over 15 years of teaching and running tennis clinics to a variety of ages. Instruction will be differentiated amongst the levels of the players in each of the clinics to ensure each player is improving on their skill set. Registration fee is $83.00 resident/$88.00 non-resident. Tennis Lessons – Ages 8-12, Mondays, May 10th – June 7th, 4:30pm – 5:30pm at the Blish Park Tennis Court. Players will develop new skills and techniques through enjoyable activities and drills. The classes will be run by Shaun Keane who has over 15 years of teaching and running tennis clinics to a variety of ages. Instruction will be differentiated amongst the levels of the players in each of the clinics to ensure each player is improving on their skill set. Registration fee is $90.00 resident/$95.00 non-resident. Horseback Riding Lessons – Ages 5 and up, English or Western style instruction. The lessons are private and are an hour in length. The lessons days and times are flexible. The instructor will contact you upon registration to set up lesson day and time. Instruction provided by Jo-Ellen Lemanski. Registration fee is 4 lessons for $175.00 residents/$180.00 non-residents. Adult Programs /Fitness ZUMBA - Thursdays, March 4th – April 8th, 7:00-8:00 pm in the conference room at Fire station #2. Registration fee is $50residents/$55 non-residents/$12 drop-in fee. Class instruction provided by Anna Boose. Barre/Pilates - Mondays, 5:30pm – 6:15pm, March 1st – March 29th. This is a complete exercise class with concentrated exercises for hips, legs and core. Every week we have a slightly different focus creating a full body workout. Registration fee is $60.00 resident/$15.00 drop in fee. Class instruction is virtual and provided by Janice Flanagan. Yoga – Mondays, 6:30pm – 7:30pm, March 1st – March 29th. This practice will help improve posture, strength, balance, and flexibility, as well as inner strength and confidence. Yoga is a personal experience and an exploration of Body and Mind. Registration fee is $60.00 resident//$15.00 drop in fee. Class instruction is virtual and provided by Janice Flanagan. Yoga - Tuesdays, 9:30am – 10:30am, March 2nd – March 30th. This practice will help improve posture, strength, balance, and flexibility, as well as inner strength and confidence. Yoga is a personal experience and an exploration of Body and Mind. Home Decor Sewing 101 –Valance – Ages 18+, Wednesday May 5th, 5:30 – 7:00pm at the Marlborough Senior Center. In this home refresh class you will create a sample valance perfect for the kitchen or bathroom. Valance will have a curved hem, rod pocket and be fully lined. All Materials included. Sunset Yoga – Tuesdays, May 18th – June 22nd, 6pm – 7pm. In this Yoga class we combine Hatha Yoga, with Vinyasa Flow, Mindfulness and Meditation. This practice will help improve posture, strength, balance, and flexibility, as well as inner strength and confidence.
