Shop MainStreet is a statewide campaign calling on residents of New Mexico to shop in our historic, downtown districts for the holiday season. New Mexico MainStreet, New Mexico Economic Development Department, local MainStreet and Arts & Cultural Districts in New Mexico present this campaign. When we Shop MainStreet, we support the small businesses in our districts and positively impact our local economy and community. The following is a list of participating communities and some of the featured events in their towns. Please contact the local MainStreet program for more information and more events. We are excited to have great participation and encourage everyone to Shop MainStreet! Featuring local artisans located in downtown small businesses and galleries, this is the largest Art Walk of the year in “The Heart” of Farmington Historic Downtown. This event is family-friendly and includes some of the best artists from the area partnering with local shop owners in a fun evening of entertainment and inspiration. Find unique gifts for the whole family that they will cherish for years to come. Many businesses will have a limited number of the official Small Business Saturday bags to give away with qualifying purchase. The bags have recently become collector’s items, because American Express commissions a new design every year. In addition, there will be live performances by local musicians at several locations. While you’re downtown, don’t forget to try one of the many amazing restaurants located there. From burgers, pizza, and New Mexican cuisine to Thai BBQ and Japanese cuisine, you are certain to find something that tickles your taste buds. Information: (505) 661-4844, [email protected], www.losalamosmainstreet.com LOVINGTON Shop MainStreet for the Holidays November–January Lovington MainStreet will partner with downtown business owners and the City of Lovington to add a special Holiday glow to the district this year. In addition to decorating of storefronts, streetscapes and plazas downtown, soft white energy-efficient LED rope lights will light up the roof tops of the buildings surrounding the Lea County Courthouse on Central, Main & Washington Streets. The lights will come on at dusk each evening mid-November through the beginning of January, making the beautiful historic downtown district of Lovington even more picturesque this season! Business owners will join in the Holiday Spirit by collaborating with Lovington MainStreet to offer special promotions, sales, and Open House events, which will encourage everyone to Shop Local for the Holidays and “Support Our Homegrown Businesses!” Downtown Win(e)d Down Canvas Painting November 21, 2016 Small Business Saturday November 26, 2016, Saturday Regular business hours Lovington MainStreet will partner with American Express & local downtown merchants to promote Small Business Saturday. We will provide advertising for participating businesses that are willing to offer promotions and sales incentives to the community. This will increase traffic downtown and encourage people to shop in our own community first for their Holiday purchases. Christmas Jubilee and Lighted Christmas Parade December 2, 2016, Friday, 6:30 pm The Christmas Jubilee and Lighted Christmas Parade starts at the City Rec Center and ends downtown. Celebrating its 30th year the Portales’ Christmas Jubilee is a holiday family tradition. This year’s activities include the Christmas Jubilee Lighted Parade with the presentation of the Little Miss Merry Christmas royal court on the square.
