Their four teachers conducted seminars on tbe car, and tbe students wrote reports of their experiences for pupils in other classes. CN supplied rule books, operating timetables and other material for tbe discussions. * Three children, all under 10, stowed away on CN's Montreal-bo-ind Rapido on May 6tb, and were not discovered until tbe train had passed Kingston.     STAFF REPORT April 12, 2006 To: Works Committee From: Gary Welsh, General Manager, Transportation Services Subject: Potential to increase the Number of Taxi Stands Adjacent to TTC Subway Stations (All Wards) Purpose: To respond to a request from City Council for a report on the feasibility of increasing the number of Taxi Stands in the vicinity of Subway Stations. Financial Implications and Impact Statement: The funds associated with the introduction of the appropriate regulatory signage are contained in the approved Transportation Services Division 2006 Operating Budget. Recommendations: It is recommended that: (1) the following 26 new Taxi Stands as described in Attachment #1, be established in the vicinity of Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Subway Stations; and (2) the appropriate City officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto, including the introduction in Council of any bills that may be required. Background: City Council, at its meeting held on May 17, 18 and 19, 2005, in adopting Consolidated Clause 16 (j) in Works Committee Report 5, requested that Transportation Services staff report to the Works Committee on the feasibility of increasing the number of Taxi Stands around TTC Subway Stations, and further that representatives of the Taxi industry, in particular Ms. Souter, General Manager of Beck Taxi, be invited to depute on the item. - 2 - Comments: The issue of designating Taxi Stands in the vicinity of Subway Stations was last dealt with by the former Metropolitan Toronto Council in February, 1992. At that time, the former area municipalities were requested to implement designated Taxi Stands at Subway Station locations.

    For Action Routing Changes - Junction Area Study Update Date: July 10, 2018 To: TTC Board From: Chief Customer Officer Summary The TTC bus network is very mature. In order to ensure that the network continues to reflect the way our customers travel across the city, staff has developed a program to review different segments of the city over time. This report provides an update on the status of the Junction Area Study. The objective of the study is to improve transit travel for customers by restructuring the bus route network in the Junction Area. In spring 2017, the TTC began the study with a customer survey to better understand customer travel patterns in the Junction Area. Feedback was also collected on existing services to identify key concerns for customers. Three key issues were identified: • No continuous transit service along Dundas Street West between Dundas West Station and Kipling Station; • No continuous transit service along St Clair Avenue West between Gunn's Loop (Weston Road) and Scarlett Road; and, • Need to extend the 80 Queensway from its current eastern terminus at Humber Loop to Keele Station via Parkside Drive in the late evening and on Sundays and holidays. Based on this feedback, staff prepared and proposed a preliminary transit network to reflect the data collected and address concerns raised by customers. The new transit network includes a number of service proposals that include restructuring and rationalizing existing services and improving periods of service on routes. In May 2018, the TTC held public information sessions at Runnymede, High Park, and Dundas West stations, and Gunn’s Loop to share the proposed transit network with customers and to collect feedback on the proposals.

McCarten lP NFTA LRV 125 has been turned into the world's newest and fanciest 'streetcar diner' outside Hoak's Armor Inn, Hamburg, N.Y. The car was dropped and damaged irreparably while being deliverd to the NFTA shops in Buffalo; a replacement 125 was subsequently built and delivered and the '1st 125', which never turned a wheel in revenue service, was sold to this restaurant, probably for use as a cocktail lounge. July 28, 1986. McCarten SEPTEMBER 1986 3 Years of Urban Rail Transit in Tnronto On Sept. 11, 1986 we think back to the equivalent date in 1861, when Canada's first urban rail passenger service commenced operation: a horsecar service provided by the Toronto Street Railway Company. Mr. Alexander Easton of Philadelphia, a public transit entrepreneur of the day, obtained a 30-year franchise to operate animal powered streetcar service from the City of Toronto on March 26, 1861. The TSR was organized in May of that year with A. Easton as President and Alexander Bleekly and Daniel Smith as Directors. The franchise provided for service on at least a 30-minute headway, with the daily operating period to be 16 hours a day in summer and 14 hours a day in winter (the spring and fall seasons do not appear to have been recognized).

    STAFF REPORT ACTION REQUIRED Approval of Art Concepts for Coxwell, Wellesley, Royal York, Ossington and St. Clair West Stations Date: December 16, 2015 To: TTC Board From: Chief Executive Officer Summary In accordance with the TTC’s “Art in Public Transit Facilities” policy, public art is being provided at five stations as part of the Easier Access Phase III and Second Exit projects and is being administered in groups in co-ordination with the project construction schedules. Five stations are included in this initial group: Coxwell, Wellesley, Royal York, Ossington and St. Clair West. An open call for artist prequalification was held and a jury selected three artists per station to provide art concepts. Artists and art concepts for the five stations were selected by juries consisting of artists, art educators and art administrators including a local representative, and the TTC’s chief architect and were facilitated by the TTC’s art consultant. The concepts have been shown to the community as part of a series of public open houses. Recommendations It is recommended that the Board approve the public art concepts for these projects, noting that the TTC’s “Policy for Art in Public Transit Facilities” has been followed: Coxwell Station Easier Access: “Forwards and Backwards” by Jennifer Davis and Jon Sasaki; Wellesley Station Second Exit and Easier Access: Low-relief sculptural mosaic by Gisele Amantea; Royal York Station Easier Access: “rabbit STOP” by Noel Harding; Ossington Station Easier Access: “The Particles” by Scott Eunson and Staff report for action on Approval of Art Concept - EAIII 1 St. Clair West Station: “The Commuters” by Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky.

Resubmitted December 19,2012 MEETING DATE: November 21, 2012 SUBJECT: MODERNIZING THE TTC – A NEW APPROACH TO COMMUNICATIONS, COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND PROPERTY COORDINATION FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ACTION ITEM RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Commission: 1. Endorse the initiatives outlined in this report establishing the TTC’s new approach for public consultation, community relationships of property coordination for construction projects. 2. Note the actions that have already been implemented to address issues noted in the Ombudsman’s report to Council dated October 31, 2012. FUNDING The recommendations in this report do not have any financial implications. BACKGROUND In January 2012, the Engineering and Construction Branch and the former Transit Expansion Department (Transit City) were amalgamated and renamed the Engineering, Construction and Expansion Group (ECE). The new ECE Group includes the establishment of a separate dedicated department, Strategic Partnerships, responsible for managing communications, community relations and third party, including property requirements for TTC construction projects. This report provides an overview of the Strategic Partnerships activities. DISCUSSION The TTC Capital Program includes about 500 contracts over the next five years. Most of these projects involve maintenance and rehabilitation work related to the state of good repair within TTC facilities (carhouses and garages) that have little or no impact on the MODERNIZING THE TTC – A NEW APPROACH TO COMMUNICATIONS, COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND PROPERTY COORDINATION FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS Page 2 public. Over the past several years there are an increasing number of construction projects that involve upgrades and enhancements to existing subway stations with more impact on adjacent communities and the 1.6 million people that use the TTC on a daily basis.
