We are excited to be on the field with our student athletes. This has been a challenging year for many people and we want you to know that the Sun Prairie Football family is here for you. This season we are talking about undivided and what that means within our program. The song by Tim McGraw truly hits home on some great points that we want to touch upon in our program. As you can see we have decided to put the words undivided on our helmets as well. We want to spark change in our Sun Prairie Community and we believe it starts with our student athletes being positive role models for all. We talk about respect and what that looks like. We want to understand what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes and how we can help each other. We want to let everyone know that we are all in this great game of life togeth- er and together we can make this journey unbelievable. We are here for each other and are willing to have each other’s back in difficult situations. We are thankful for this stadium and are very excited for our community to be able to come and watch us compete. We will promise to always leave it all out on the field and hold our heads high no matter the outcome of the game. We will always strive to make our community proud of our actions on and off the field. We hope to see you at some games this season and please remember Sun Prairie needs to be undivided each and every day. Hungry? GET DOWN TO THE NITTY GRITTY! . We are hoping the events we host this first year are memorable for all. Enjoy your experience. I hope you find today’s game enjoyable and realize our student-athletes have worked extremely hard to prepare for their season. Under the leadership of Head Coach Brian Kaminski, the Cardinals are poised to earn a Big 8 Championship and leave their legacy on Cardinal Athletics. One of the main focuses of our education-based athletics at Sun Prairie High School is displaying great sportsmanship. We ask that you support that effort today, as a fan. Negative Mary Jiannacopoulos, Eric Nee & Deb Harbort chants, yelling out to game officials, and coaching from the stands does not help the game. You are important to the game! We need you to cheer loud and proud for the Cardinals. So, let the officials call the game, let the coaches coach, and let our young student-athletes play the game they love. Leadership: A leader is someone people want to follow and can guide and support them in accomplishing a task. Student leadership is one of our top priorities within our Sun Prairie athletic programs. We take great pride in providing leadership opportunities for our athletes so they are not only better equipped to guide our teams, but our society in the future. There are a number of young student-athletes on the field today that are stepping up to be positive leaders on their team. Bank Of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field History: Since 1953, Ashley Field has been a focal point for the Sun Prairie Area School District and the Sun Prairie community. Countless games and graduations, concerts, and other events over the decades have ingrained this field into the hearts and minds of students and alumni, staff and community members. In 1953, the land the field sits on was donated by Sun Prairie Alumnus Charles Ashley. In May of 2020, the Sun Prairie Area School District and the Bank of Sun Prairie signed a twenty year partnership to name the stadium, Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field. The Bank of Sun Prairie has been one of our most generous partners. They are steadfast in their support of the kids and families of the Sun Prairie Area School District. This is a twenty-year partnership that builds on our historical relationship and sets the vision of shared collaboration for years to come. What is most exciting is our shared interest in the kids of our community and the future opportunities this partnership will offer the current generation of students and many generations to come. This partnership holds promise that this special place will continue to serve the community of Sun Prairie as a thriving center for school-based activities, commerce, and social events. I am guessing that none of us ever thought we would be saying that. It certainly has been a hard and crazy year for all us, but we finally get to see our teams back out on the field. We can’t wait to see all of our Cardinal players but most of all we get to send our seniors out the right way. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sun Prairie Community and Businesses for all of your support. Our local businesses step up to purchase ads in our game day program, donate raffle prizes and auction items for the Gibby Open, provide coupons for our fundraising card, take incredible action shots of our teams, provide deals on spirit wear for fans and players, and countless other things. By doing this you make our traditions like First Responder Night, Youth Football Night, Parents Night, and Homecoming possible. Generosity from the business community and all Cardinal fans make it possible for us to support the football program. Family takes care of its own, and our football family is no different. The mission of the Quarterback Club is to support the football program. Here are just a few things that The Quarterback Club does: • Host the Gibby Open in June. Money from that outing is used for scholarships for players and managers. We have given out almost $40,000 in the last 12 years. • Design, print, and distribute the game day programs. • Purchase materials for The Cardinal Leadership Team and pay for the team to go to Camp Douglas for a day of team building challenges. • Feed all Varsity players every Thursday during the season at our Hogfests.
