s The Twelh Sunday aer Pentecost August 15, 2021 11 am Welcome to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church The Tree of Life is Growing Here We are called to offer sanctuary in the city, to grow in God’s love, to seek the renewal of the world Welcome to this service of Holy Communion. We rejoice in this opportunity to gather together for worship and fellowship. If you are with us in the church, we are delighted you are here. At this service, masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated. As we move to this new phase, we continue to hold as one of our highest values a climate of mutual trust and respect. There are many reasons why some may choose to remain masked, regardless of vaccination status. Welcoming one another in good faith, as God has made us welcome, is one of the hallmarks of our tradition and one of the practices that will lead us into the future. If you are joining us virtually, know that we are grateful for your presence and continue to seek ways to make this an inclusive experience for you. When the time comes for communion, we invite you to trust, with us, that for generations the church has assured us that when we are absent from the table, the sincere desire to receive communion conveys all the benets of the sacrament itself. A prayer for you to say at the time of communion is included in the leaet. As we gather for worship together in our dierent locations, we are making dierent choices of how to participate. Please know that, just as you are welcome to “come as you are” in the physical church, so we hope you will participate here “as you will.” As you are comfortable, stand, sit, kneel, sing, speak, and, if you have capacity, join in the chat. Children are always welcome to participate fully in worship, as they are able and interested. If you are joining virtually, we invite you to visit our website: http://www.standrewdenver.org/children-families/godly-play for resources to enhance your child’s participation. For those in the church, you will nd busy boards, service guides, and books in a basket in the Narthex to help your child participate with you in worship. Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my esh.” The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his esh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the esh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my esh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my esh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my esh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live forever.” V The Gospel of Our Savior. R Praise to you, Lord Christ. At the invitation of the preacher, the People sit The Sermon The People stand and sing The Nicene Creed harmonization: Jeffrey Rickard We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucied under Pontius Pilate; he suered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father; who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and gloried; who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
