WELCOME Ryan Watt and Miriam Bale welcome you to Photo Credit: Chloe Littlefield the 23rd annual Indie Memphis Film Festival A few months prior to producing my first independent film, my journey with Indie Memphis began in 2008 when I bought a pass to the festival. It was a total discovery, I couldn’t believe what a gem we had in our backyard, and I wanted more people to experience why it was so special. This is my sixth and final year as Executive Director. I am forever indebted to our sta, board, volunteers, members and supporters who have made this an incredible experience. A huge thank you to all of the filmmakers, actors, and crew members who share their stories and make our community so vibrant. Supporting some of the most creative artists in the world has been a dream job. I will be soaking in every bit of this incredible program online and outdoors that our sta has assembled! Ryan Watt Executive Director What an adventure, to try to plan a film festival in a pandemic. Thank you so much to everyone who has gone on this ride with us, learning to get creative and connect in new ways: our filmmakers, my co- workers, our wonderful board, our festival partners, including Malco and Eventive, and all of our sta and volunteers. Thanks especially to you, the most vibrant community in the best city, our faithful audience. This festival marks the last of Ryan Watt as the captain at the helm. Ryan made dreams come true and helped create a mini film utopia in Memphis. Let’s celebrate hard (yet safely!) as we send him o in the way this great community leader deserves. Miriam Bale Artistic Director Hello, Film Lovers! It’s show time – and for its 2020 Festival, Indie Memphis is presenting quite a show!
