What has been a fantastic year for the sport in our region has also revealed some flaws in our operating structure and our ability to operate in a financially sustainable way. We have gone from strength to strength on court with a successful defences of the Cousins Shield, and national masters titles, and victory at the SI Quadranglulars. Hosting a very well run and historic nationals also saw us take out the men’s senior team title for the first time ever with the team also earning their spot as a third place finalist at the Canterbury Sports Awards alongside some very big names in sport.

Takaka, Motueka, Waimea, Nelson, Celtic, Marlborough, and Marlborough College clubs have for many years been part of the Wellington Squash district. Their inclusion in Canterbury means that we are now responsible for everything north of Ashburton. This opens up a wide range of new opportunities, and provides additional strength for our representative teams. Our challenge now is to ensure that we provide the services and support that the new clubs need, whilst continuing to meet the requirements of our traditional club base.
