SQUASH AUCKLAND 2013 ANNUAL REPORT 3 Chairman’s Report Strategic Plan comes to life with new website, College Sport and fun squash initiatives Tim Marshall, Chairman Strategic Plan Progress Last year the Squash Auckland board signed off a new three year strategic plan for 2013-2015, which had been developed in consultation with member clubs and other stakeholders. This year general manager Philip Vodanovich and his team have actioned a number of the initiatives we set out in the plan and got the ball rolling on others. We are pleased with progress and looking forward to this continuing to build over the next two years. To recap, the stated Vision is: Inspiring Aucklanders to play squash And our stated Mission is: To engage with and enable clubs, commercial and community facilities to deliver a great squash experience to the Auckland community. I’m delighted that Chas over the past year has been the decision to formalise the way some of the Evans will join the elite group of individuals who have contributed so much to New Zealand squash. Shane O’Dwyer Trust funds support New Zealand’s most promising juniors. How fitting that this event is in Chas’s own back yard, the Hutt Valley. Even more exciting is the opportunity to Shane O’Dwyer was an exceptionally popular player, coach and honour the sometimes overlooked contribution refereeing administrator whose sudden death in 1985 was a huge shock to the brings to our sport. This event hasn’t been held in Christchurch for 36 years, and both the Burnside and Squashways Clubs are excited and looking forward to hosting this year’s event. The tournament has attracted record number of entries with over 80 A Grade players, including past World Champion Carol Owens, former WR #3 Stuart Davenport, and current world ranked players Martin Knight WR #48, Abdulla Al Tamimi WR # 76 and our local player Paul Coll WR # 87.
