NYANDARUA CPSB, COUNTY ATTORNEY NOMINEES APPROVED Nyandarua County Assembly on Friday September 27,2019 approved the nominees for the second County Public Service Board (NCPSB) in a special sitting. While making his remarks after their approval, the Assembly Speaker Hon. Ndegwa Wahome,commended the good work done by the Committees in the process of vetting and tabling of their report in time. Vetting of the nominees for NCPSB had been carried out in the course of week by the Committee on Public Administration and ICT led by Engineer Ward MCA Hon. Samuel Njatha. On the other hand, Committee on Legal Affairs, Labour, Intergovernmental Relations and Coordination led by Karau Ward MCA Hon. Kenn Mukira vetted the nominee for the County Attorney’s position, Hon. Ann Wangechi Githinji. Hon. Njatha said the County Public Service is the engine of the service delivery in the county and the members of the board should be alive to the fact that the task ahead is huge and gratifying.Hon. Githinji was the first Speaker of Kirinyaga County Assembly and served between 2013 and 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Marathwada University in India, and a Bachelor of Social Legislation from the same University. She has also worked as the chairperson of the National Environment Trust Fund, and was a legal consultant for the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Institutions. The following are the new NCPSB members approved by the Assembly: Ms. ANN WaNgeci GithiNji-the CouNty AttorNey NomiNee Mr. William Goko Gatehi, 58. He was nominated as the chairperson. He hails from Charagita Ward in Oljoro Orok Sub-county. He holds a degree in Business Administration from USIU and is currently working in his founded WIGO Company of secretarial practices. Dr. James NdiraNgu KuNg’u, 50. He was nominated as the secretary to the board. He holds a PhD- Business Administration from JKUAT, Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance option) from Kenya Methodist University, a degree in Business Administration from Kampala International University in Uganda and currently working in Laikipia University as a Senior Lecturer. Mr. JohN MwaNgi MaiNa, 52, He hails from Gathaara Ward and has been nominated as a member of the board. He holds a Master’s degree in Religion from African Nazarene University, a Diploma in Law and he is currently a church minister. Mr. Gabriel GithiNji Kimotho, 53, He hails from Mirangine Ward and is nominated as a member of the board. He holds a Master’s degree from University of Nairobi and recently coordinated the just concluded National Population and Housing Census in Nyandarua County. He also worked as a Principal for Brookhurst International School. Mr. Filbert Sammy Gitiha, 60, He hails from Kipipiri Ward in Kipipiri Sub-County. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Management University of Africa and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option) from Kenya Methodist University. He has worked in various boards among them County Land Management Board, Nyandarua Trade Development Fund Board and others. GARBAGE COLLECTION TRUCKS AND THE SCHEDULE OF GARBAGE COLLECTION IN NYANDARUA Hon. Isaac Kung’u, Wanjohi Ward MCA has this afternoon tabled a response to a statement sought regarding the status of garbage collection trucks and the schedule of garbage collection in Nyandarua County. It is noted that Nyandarua County has three refuse collection trucks which are operational and are shared between sub-counties. One of the truck, 18CG014A operates between OL’Kalou and Kipipiri Sub- Counties, 18CG034A operating between Ndaragwa and OL’Jororok Sub-Counties, and 18CG035A serving Kinangop Sub-County. “It is also important to note that in Nyandarua we have four towns and trading centers with refuse chambers, that is, Engineer, Njabini, Ndunyu Njeru and OL’Kalou.” The Chairperson to the Committee on Health Services said. However, Hon. Gathungu Kamau, the MCA for Leshau Pondo Ward has maintained that Mbuyu Disposal site which is alleged to be fenced and not in use is a land that belongs to the department of Youths, Sports and the Arts. “Garbage collection is an important component of any town and Ward in the County and therefore effective garbage collection ensures timely disposal of the garbage. I urge the County Government to support the activity to combat any health hazards that may be posed by unmanaged garbage.” Hon. Ngumo Ngamau added. The Committee therefore recommended for a dumpsite n every Sub-County and the concerned department to come up with a Solid Waste Management Policy. HON. MUGWANJA MAKES PRONOUNCEMENTS ON FY 2020/ 2021 ADP The CECM in charge of Finance and Economic Development Hon. Mary Mugwanja recently made pronouncements on the County Government’s Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the 2020/ 2021 financial year on the floor of the House. The ADP s a document that comprises a one-year extract of the five-year County Integrated Development plan (CIDP), and serves as a basis for development of the County Annual Budget. According to Hon. Mugwanja, the key programmes identified require Kshs. 7308.88 Million to implement, and added that proper revenue raising measures will be put in place to ensure that this money is realized Among the identified measures she said include ntroduction of new revenue streams, reducing charges seen to encourage evasion and avoidance of tax obligations by tax payers as well as undertaking aggressive enforcement campaigns to ensure the County reaps maximumly from the dentified revenue sources. “Additionally, the County will facilitate the iaison office to mobilize resources from development partners, among others,” she said. It is envisaged that with the implementation of the identified programmes, the County will contribute greatly towards the betterment of the livelihoods of the County residents and stakeholders, actualizing the National Development Blue Print (Vision 2030), the National Government Big Four Agenda and internationally acceded conventions. “The County strategic priorities for the financial year 2020/2021 will be majorly in the implementation flagship projects,” she added. In her pronouncement, Hon. Mugwanja indicated that the Department of Transport, Energy and Public Works will take the lion share of Kshs. 375 million that shall be spent on expansion of the road network and inhouse roads and maintenance machinery. Kshs. 110 million on will be spent on students’ bursary, Kshs. 80 million on development of a potatoes and fruits processing plant while Kshs. 70 million shall be spent on youth empowerment. The document was committed to sectorial committees and will later be subjected to public participate before being debated in the House for approval.
