The variety of cooking methods and colourful ingredients blend together in a hot wok to create signature dishes of particular cuisines. Nevertheless, a cuisine needs to be clearly defined by definite individual characteristics so it is recognised. The primary objective of this study is to understand how Malaysian cuisine is used in marketing Malaysia as a tourist destination. Content analysis is used on selected Malaysian cuisine promotional materials such as brochures, travel guides, and webpages to extract relevant data. Results show that “close-up meal” had the highest image count from among the eight categories identified. As for text, ten categories were identified. “Creating desire” topped the list, followed by “sensory appeal”. The Malaysian Government is particular in the details selected for images of and narrative on the local cuisine. As a result, the marketing collateral could provide excitement and help tourists to anticipate the type of food experience that they can find when travelling in Malaysia. Results indicated significant variations among tested varieties in levels of fruit infestation and maggot density Debu Mukherjee inside the fruit. Mutton Or Chicken Akhni
MUTTON OR CHICKEN AKHNI MUTTON OR CHICKEN AKHNI In a pot braise a large onion with oil (if using mutton) if chicken little oil n ghee till pale pink. Add in 1 teaspoon whole jeera seeds 4 whole black peppercorns 4 whole elachi pods 3 pieces cinnamon sticks 4 whole cloves 3 sliced green chillies Braise till golden brown. Then add in your meat or chicken. Add: 1 tablespoon of ginger and garlic paste 1 ½ teaspoon salt ±1 ½ teaspoon turmeric 1 teaspoon of red chilies paste STIR WELL Braise for a few minutes. Add some water and let cook till meat is tender. When meat is tender and water is almost dry add the other masalas: ± 2 tablespoons chili powder 2 teaspoons dhana /jeero powder 1 teaspoon crushed chillie powder some peas Braise nicely for few minutes then add in 1 grated tomato. Cook a few minutes. add 2 tbsp plain yogurt Add 6 cups boiling water and add in potatoes about 5 cut in pieces. Let boil for a few min so potatoes start getting soft. Lower heat a bit. Add 3 cups pre soaked basmati rice and add to pot. Add some salt for taste. Add in some chopped dhania and mint and about half teaspoon garam masala powder. Let boil for a few minutes till rice starts cooking. Stir also so well so that rice doesn’t stick to the bottom. When rice is boiling nicely and water is almost drying but there must be some water then put in oven and steam for about 30 to 40 minutes at 180°C. -

Herbal cosmetics are the preparations, which represent cosmetics associated with active bio-ingredients, dyes. The new markets are being driven neutraceuticals or pharmaceuticals. Characterization of a Type 3 Metallothionein Isolated from Porteresia Coarctata

PARIDA* Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Taramani, Chennai-600113, India Abstract Metallothioneins are involved in detoxification of heavy metals. A cDNA encoding type 3 metallothionein (PcMT3) was isolated from the salt stressed leaf cDNA library of Porteresia coarctata (Roxb.) Tateoka (wild rice) that grows well in the heavy metal laden estuarine soils. The PcMT3 cDNA (581 bp) encodes a protein of 64 amino acids. PcMT3 is highly homologous (82 %) to OsMT-I-3a of rice, but is unique from other type 3 plant MTs due to the presence of an additional glycine residue in the C-terminal domain. Analysis of the 5′ upstream region of PcMT3 showed the presence of cis-acting elements like the CG box and STRE previously reported to be involved in gene expression under heavy metal stress. Southern analysis suggested the presence of more than one copy of PcMT3-like sequences in the P. coarctata genome. Analysis of genomic clone of PcMT3 revealed the presence of two introns. A comparison of the genomic sequence of PcMT3 with closely similar type 3 MTs from rice and mangrove species revealed conservation in the number and position of introns. Transcript profiling for PcMT3 in P. coarctata leaves in the presence of Cd, Cu and Zn showed an increase in transcript accumulation. The cul tivated fruit trees number more than 100 species of both indigenous and introduced species. Among these fruits, some are popular and are widely cultivated throughout the country while others are less known and grown in small localized areas. The latter are the under-utilized fruit species. Apart from these cultivated fruits, there is also in the Malaysian natural forest a diversity of wild fruit tree species which produce edible fruits but are relatively unknown and unutilized. Many of the under-utilized and unutilized fruit species are known to show economic potential. Collection and evaluation of some of these fruit tree genetic resources have been carried out. These materials are assessed for their potential as new fruit trees, as sources of rootstocks for grafting and also as sources of germplasm for breeding to improve the present cultivated fruit species. Some of these potential fruit tree species within the gen era Artocarpus, Baccaurea, Canarium, Dimocarpus, Dialium, Durio, Garcinia, Litsea, Mangif era, Nephelium, Sa/acca, and Syzygium are highlighted. Introduction Malaysian fruit tree genetic resources comprise both cultivated and wild species. There are more than 100 cultivated fruit species of both major and minor fruit crops. Each category includes indigenous as well as introduced species. The major cultivated fruit crops are well known and are commonly grown throughout the country. -

' ABSTRACT India owes to Lala Har Dayal a great debt of gratitude. What he did intotality to his mother country is yet to be acknowledged properly. The paradox ridden Har Dayal - a moody idealist, intellectual, who felt an almost mystical empathy with the masses in India and America. He kept the National Independence flame burning not only in India but outside too. In 1905 he went to England for Academic pursuits. But after few years he had leave England for his revolutionary activities. He stayed in America and other European countries for 25 years and finally returned to England where he wrote three books. Har Dayal's stature was so great that its very difficult to put him under one mould. He was visionary who all through his life devoted to Boddhi sattava doctrine, rational interpretation of religions and sharing his erudite knowledge for the development of self culture. The proposed thesis seeks to examine the purpose of his returning to intellectual pursuits in England. Simultaneously the thesis also analyses the contemporary relevance of his works which had a common thread of humanism, rationalism and scientific temper. Relevance for his ideas is still alive as it was 50 years ago. He was true a patriotic who dreamed independence for his country. He was pioneer for developing science in laymen and scientific temper among youths.
