Programs

Our programs will provide opportunities for students to achieve their goals. Our curriculum will be delivered by specialist teachers and includes English, the arts (including visual arts, dance, drama and music), mathematics, science, technologies, humanities and social sciences, health and physical education and languages. We will also offer academic extension programs to selected students.

A full suite of technologies is offered, including hospitality, metalwork and woodwork, together with a significant emphasis on digital technologies such as coding, mechatronics and robotics. A health and physical education program will offer selected students the opportunity to compete in specialised sporting programs.

Clubs will be an important part of the College experience. Before and after school scheduled activities will allow your child to explore their passions and interests. Delivered by our outstanding staff, the clubs will reflect student interest and staff expertise. The clubs will allow students to learn in an environment that is flexible, challenging and focussed on personal development and engagement.

Programs

A unique feature of our college is the Arts Enrichment Program where all students at the college work with a range of peers in a diveise environment allowing them to explore and discover new opportunities and art forms while developing life skills.

International students can access a structured Arts program that builds from Year 9 to 12. Inclusion in the football and arts courses is based on aptitude and availability in the course. Our ballet program provides your child with the necessary hours of intensive training required to pursue ballet as a career and encourage their creativity.

Through an integrated program, your child will participate in classes, workshops and performances. In our contemporary dance program students are challenged with intensive training through an integrated program. They develop their imagination and sense of expression through a range of different genres of dance including classical ballet, Spanish and contemporary.

Our media arts program offers students the opportunity to develop a wide range of film making skills and develop expertise in current media technologies.

Our dynamic music program provides your child with a high standard of music education to develop music theory and aural skills. Your child can participate in large and small orchestral, band, choral, vocal and instrumental ensembles, and instrumental lessons.

Our visual arts program provides students with outstanding creative opportunities·to cultivate their artistic skills and knowledge through a stimulating mix of visual inquiry, studio work, exhibition and critical and historical reflection.

John Curtin College of the Arts' football program is Western Australia's leading football program in secondary schools. As an Approved Specialist Program, we help selected students develop skills, attitudes and knowledge to enable them to compete successfully in football at the highest level. Our program has produced many Western Australian and Australian representatives, with a significant number of former students playing in professional teams internationally.

An Academic Excellence Program is also available for students who are academically talented. A rich suite of opportunities exists for your child to be engaged in leadership activities with positions ranging from student council representatives to sporting group captains and peer support leaders. A range of clubs, including astronomy, chess, coding and robotics give your child further opportunities.

Facilities

Our school has many facilities that support teaching and learning programs with high-speed technology infrastructure across the school.

Your child will have access to new mathematics, science and technology centres. The fully equipped industrial and robotics workshops support learning in technologies, while the 25 metre heated:swimming pool, gymnasium, weights room and two playing fields (a football oval and an international size soccer field) ensure students are afforded the very best health and physical education facilities.

Students receive private tuition in the specialist music rooms and perform outstanding music concerts and drama productions in the large auditorium. There are also many new arts facilities, including state-of-the-art dance studio, visual arts rooms, and digital photography and media classrooms.

We also have a large student cafe and conference centre and outdoor tiered amphitheatre for students to enjoy

Programs

Exceptional teaching staff deliver outstanding educational programs for all students. Many national and international tours underpin the global perspective nurtured at Rossmoyne.

We have a strong languages program which includes Chinese (Mandarin), French, German and Japanese. Students can enrol in the more advanced Chinese first language and Chinese background. We also have Approved Specialist Programs in mathematics, classical music and volleyball.

In addition to a large suite of ATAR courses, exciting Vocational Education and Training opportunities are available. We also offer many clubs and extra-curricular activities such as debating, mock trials, public speaking activities, chess, a range of sports, as well as The Duke of Edinburgh"s International Award and tailored leadership programs.

Strong connections with universities and local community and industry groups provide further opportunities for students. This also includes community service programs where students give back to the global community.

Your child can take part in the award-winning Bush Ranger Cadet Program, which includes a major conservation project and regular excursions, as well as three or four annual camps.

Student support services

Our holistic approach to student care includes school psychologists, a full-time nurse, school chaplains, student support officers, a learning support coordinator and eight 'House' Coordinators.

Your child will belong to a home room which provides continuity of care, with a designated teacher monitoring their progress, assisting them with goal setting and the opportunity for authentic connections to be developed between students across all year groups.
