Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Chattanooga, TN Type: Full-time, Exempt Reports To: VP for Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible to effectively lead a team of and hardware technicians to develop and improve all aspects of the company’s robotics, 3D printing processes, foaming/milling production lines, and factory facilities while focusing on safety, quality, and productivity. This leader will work closely with the VP for Operations in support of executive decision-making for company goals affected by robotics and hardware activity. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise as well as innovative and design-thinking capabilities that foster a team mindset of continuous improvement.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Create team objectives for safety, quality, asset management, and line performance 2. Oversee company’s quality assurance 3. Implement preventative maintenance procedures 4. Develop efficient processes for managing extruder tooling, tool crib, and critical spares 5. Establish quality system documents and procedures in line with company objectives 6. Monitor & implement all aspects of plant safety systems. 7. Learn, master, and improve all techniques used in the C-Fab™ process 8. Collect, interpret, and make recommendations on relevant data and testing results 9. Develop strategic relationships with suppliers of hardware and tooling components 10. Create accurate BOMs and production system control documents 11. Create and execute strategic company priorities in an agile development framework 12. Work with Production team to improve robot operator experience 13. Participate in KPI definition and reporting

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or related engineering field 2. 6+ years of managerial experience in related field and with lean manufacturing 3. Demonstrable competencies with CAD/CAM, Solidworks, and Pro E 4. Experience with industrial robotics in a production environment 5. Hands on experience with development, fabrication, assembly, & integration 6. Effective written and verbal skills 7. Demonstrable proficiency with common office software (Google Apps, MS Office, etc.) 8. Willingness and ability to relocate for job and to travel when necessary

PREFERRED:

1. Master’s degree in or related engineering field 2. Robotics integration experience / HRIOS experience 3. Lean Six Sigma black belt 4. Experience with robotic extrusion and robotic milling functions 5. Custom fabrication in a production environment
