WXXI is excited to bring you a brand new at-home learning series called, Let's Learn created by Thirteen WNET and NYC Department of Education.

Let's Learn is a brand new television and online series for children ages 3 to 8 and their families. The series features one-hour programs that include fun instruction by educators and virtual field trips. The focus of this exciting new series is on foundational reading and writing skills, literacy, math, science, social studies and the arts. Let’s Learn content providers add virtual field trips so children can see dance performances, meet animals, visit botanical gardens and more. These partners include Bedtime Math, Education Through Music, Memphis Zoo, New Victory Theater, New York Botanical Garden, New York Public Library, Salvadori Center, National Dance Institute and others.

Are you looking for ways to amp up your students’ media literacy habits? Do you want more support creating media content for your learning space? Are you trying to find ways to help your students analyze online content?

WXXI Education is recruiting educators to be part of a local PBS Media Literacy Academy! A small cohort of educators from our region will work together to work towards PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification.

WXXI’s Media Literacy Academy will The ideal Media Literacy Academy educator*: run from January through June 2021.  Serves middle/high school learners  Is already integrating media and using technology in their instruction Participating educators will:  Has experience creating media content  Receive NYS CTLE professional development  Might be: technology coordinator, library media credit specialist, digital innovator, technology or media arts  Be supported individually and as a group to coach work through 2-3 microcredentials towards  Is interested in or already using PBS content in their PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification classroom or learning space  Receive training on a variety of media  Has bandwidth or capacity for a project like this literacy related topics  Use existing instructional content and *An educator is anyone who is working directly with students at the middle/high school level—could be in a traditional school setting, museum, after-school or out-of-school materials to achieve microcredentials program, library, homeschool, etc.

Since 2003 WXXI and the Al Sigl Community of Agencies have worked together to help break the ingrained stereotypes about individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities with its week-long initiative, Dialogue on Disability. Held every January, the initiative is designed to stimulate community dialogue about the perspectives and abilities of people with physical and intellectual disabilities.

In an effort to continue its commitment to motivate individuals to take action and to include more people with disabilities in the workplace, in schools, neighborhoods and in all aspects of society, WXXI has partnered with the Golisano Foundation in a year- long initiative called Move to Include.

Dialogue on Disability is a partnership between WXXI and Al Sigl Community of Agencies - in conjunction with the Herman and Margaret Schwartz Community Series. Dialogue on Disability is supported by the Fred L. Emerson Foundation with additional support from The Golisano Foundation.

As his own career, business and artistic talents were emerging, Jesse looked to Albert Paley as an inspiration. DIALOGUE IN METAL is a collaborative art project that spans the country and challenges Albert and Jesse to process, engage and - together and apart. They each begin a sculpture in their home studio, with Albert in Rochester, New York, and Jesse in Austin, Texas. Then, they switch sculptures as Albert forges and welds the metal to finish Jesse's work and Jesse finishes Albert's piece with his sheet metal artistry.
