All rights reserved Editing your GIFs There are a few ways you can edit your GIFs to make it "fit" your brand and content better. Here's how you can do it: How to edit the length of your GIFs Using an app called ImgPlay, open your either your GIF or video file (images below), click next to save it as a video file and choose how many loops you want, 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10. As you click the options, the app gives you the final length. Pick one that makes your GIF around 8-10 seconds and save to photos -- remember for a video to be posted to Instagram it requires a minimum 5 seconds of length. Copyright © 2020 Your Social Team. All rights reserved Editing your GIFs How to crop or adjust the image of your GIFs If you need to crop your GIFs to make them square or narrower or get rid of unwanted margins, you have a few options. You can use: the pro version of the ImgPlay app, the editing tools in your iPhone or iPad's camera roll (and possibly other phones too) use the free version of A Color Story app or any other photo editing app that allows short video editing. Note that on ImgPlay you can work with either the .gif file and the .mp4/video file. On the others you will need to work with the video file (this is when things get tricky and there will be some back-and-forths but bare with me!) All rights reserved Using GIFs on Canva To use animated GIFs in Canva, they need to be .mp4 (video format) and not .gif. You can upload your own GIF file to Canva as a video (if you use .GIF files, they will be static) or you can use Canva's integration with Giphy. If you use the integration, notice that you can't drag and drop it into your design. You will have to manually adjust it. Important: Once you're happy with your design and want to download it, make sure you select to download it in video format .mp4 and only one video page of your project at a time. If you select all pages of your project, instead of one video per page you will get one big and useless video. The GIF that Keeps on Giving: Assignment Design with Looped Animations http://bit.ly/gifgive While an older format (created in 1987), GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) have experienced a resurgence in popularity and use in the past decade. Due to the recent proliferation of digital platforms that host GIFs, the format as a means of communication and as an act of composition has become naturalized and therefore invisible. The rise in their popularity makes GIFs important for scholars of digital literacy and composition to understand and utilize in their teaching and research. We argue that their playful nature, ease of use, and delivery opens GIFs up for new avenues of research, inquiry, and analysis. As such, GIFs can be meaningfully incorporated into the composition classroom as critical components of assignment design and the feedback process. In this mini-workshop, we will introduce participants to pre-existing examples of GIF assignments we have used in courses, discuss avenues for pedagogical research, guide participants in the creation of new GIFs, and facilitate participants’ efforts to design assignments that use GIFs. how do i download gifs from giphy What Does A GIF View Mean on GIPHY? A view is counted every time a GIF has been served through GIPHY’s services or technology. A single view is counted when a GIF is served, regardless of how many times it loops. A GIF view on GIPHY is a sign of relevance, share-ability, and popularity. GIF views begin counting as soon as you upload, but there may be a short delay until they appear on your GIF. You can find GIF views in the lower right-hand corner of the GIF detail page, directly below the Share Icons. In addition, official partners and artists have access to a Dashboard where they can see cumulative views on their account and download a full report. This Dashboard is located in the dropdown under your username, in the upper right-hand corner on desktop. For now, only official Artist or Brand GIFs and their corresponding Channels will display view counts.

MEMORANDUM TO: Interested Parties FROM: Accountable Tech RE: House Antitrust Package DATE: June 22, 2021 PURPOSE: As Big Tech lobbyists blanket Capitol Hill with disingenuous talking points about the bipartisan House antitrust package, this memo is designed to give a brief overview of what the bills actually do, why each of them is desperately needed to fix the broken status quo, and underscore the extent of the industry’s efforts to kill these overwhelmingly popular measures. I. WHAT THE BILLS DO – AND WHY WE NEED THEM The American Innovation and Choice Online Act will prevent dominant platforms from rigging marketplaces – by self-preferencing and picking winners and losers – and increase opportunity for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Rather than gatekeepers constantly favoring their own products or kneecapping competitors to pad their profits, this bill would level the playing field and put real choice in the hands of consumers. Here’s why we need it: Facebook ● Mashable: Mark Zuckerberg gave the order to kneecap Vine, emails show ● NBC News: Mark Zuckerberg leveraged Facebook user data to fight rivals and help friends, leaked documents show ● NYT: “For years, Facebook gave some of the world’s largest technology companies more intrusive access to users’ personal data than it has disclosed, effectively exempting those business partners from its usual privacy rules” Amazon ● WSJ: Amazon Scooped Up Data From Its Own Sellers to Launch Competing Products ● ProPublica: Amazon’s New Competitive Advantage: Putting Its Own Products First

  • Gifs from Giphy Download As Still Pictures 13 Sep Is That Even Legal? Animated Gifs and Copyright Law
gifs from giphy download as still pictures 13 Sep Is that even legal? Animated GIFs and copyright law. Bloggers and meme-fanatics alike will admit that very few things can convey emotions, thoughts, and processes like animated GIFs. With 100 million daily users on GIF database and search engine, Giphy, and one billion GIFs sent on the platform every day, it’s needless to say that the internet has become obsessed with the file format. Animated GIFs and business communications. Twitter and Facebook, which have both integrated native GIF search , help GIFs spread like wildfire, and sites like Buzzfeed have built content marketing empires by using animated GIFs in their infamous listicles . GIF use has gone above and beyond social media and listicle use, however. Brands and businesses are utilizing animated GIFs to convey emotion as well. In addition, brands can use GIFs to: Make a call-to-action or click-through more eye-catching Provide a quick demonstration Display content that doesn’t require the viewer to click (compared to a video, for example) Create more interesting and engaging presentations Illustrate facts, figures, and processes in a way that is easier to understand. Animated GIFs and copyright law. The trouble with using animated GIFs for commercial purposes lies in using someone else’s original content. This usage undermines the copyright owner’s ability to control derivatives of their work, where or how their work is shared, and their right to receive proceeds. While individuals can usually make and share GIFs with little concern for repercussions, companies must be aware of copyright restrictions.
