We tend to forget about the God (Mt 19:26; Lk 1:37). glorified and resurrected body. After the resurrection, Jesus appeared to the disciples and said “peace with you”. When We must uphold our faith in Jesus Christ, who is Jesus appeared to his disciples, doors were locked, he showed the resurrected Lord and Saviour of the World and who has his hand and even asked them to give him something to eat (Jh power over everything. St. Paul in his letter 1 Corinthians 20:19-22). Indeed, He rose with the same body but glorified 15:35-44, expresses that “But someone will say, “How and resurrected body. Therefore, we must have deeper are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they understanding of faith. Jesus says, “unless a grain of wheat come?” You fool! That which you sow does not come to falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed, but life unless it dies; and that which you sow, you do not it dies, it produces many seeds” (Jh 12:24). Therefore, same sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps as a seed, which dies, sprouts and grows is never same but of wheat or of something. But God gives it a body just as ever new. It will happen to us all on the resurrection day, the He wished, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. All same person who is buried will rise in the glorified body. We flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, will be resurrected according to our faithfulness (1 Cor 15: 40- and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, 42). As human being, our thinking is very limited and we can and another of fish. There are also heavenly bodies and never imagine what will happen to us and how it will happen earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and to us. We need simple faith and humility to believe in God. the glory of the earthly is another. There is one glory of St. Paul tells us that “we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. So also, is fully, even as I have been fully known” (1Cor 13:12). the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, We must remember that Church provides the it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in provision or option for the cremation due to certain power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual situations only. The Church also affirms that “cremation body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual of the deceased’s body does not affect his or her soul, nor body” (1 Corinthians 15:35-44). does it prevent God, in his omnipotence, from raising up the deceased body to new life. What will happen to those Christians who are cremated? Will they rise on the resurrection day? The Let us remember the words of St. Paul, if you book of Genesis and Ecclesiastes draw our attention declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your towards our birth and death. “All go to the same place; all heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For come from dust, and to dust all return.” Therefore, on the it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it Ash Wednesday, the faithful are reminded while applying is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” ashes on the forehead that “Remember that you are dust (Rm 10: 9-10). Let us continue to pray for beloved ones and to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3:19; Ecclesiastes whether they are cremated or buried that they may experience 3:20). eternal mercy of God and be raised on resurrection day as well as one day we too may join them soon. 18 The Voice of Delhi february 2017 19 The Solemnity of The Sacred Heart of Jesus Celebrated at Cathedral Fr Arokiya Raj

he Archdiocese of Delhi and the Sacred Heart Cathedral is dedicated and surrendered to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was celebrated this year on 11th June, 2021. The Sacred Heart stands as Ta powerful symbol of the whole human body of Jesus Christ. The heart is at its core, representing the very Divine and Human Life of Jesus, our Saviour; a Heart which was formed in Mary’s womb; a Heart which beat as he preached the Good News and healed the sick; a Heart that stopped on the cross and was then pierced by the soldier’s lance. It is also the Heart that beat once more at the Resurrection and continues to do so for us today. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is therefore a powerful reminder of the love of Christ poured out for us all.

Pope Francis, in one of his homilies during the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus said, “It is more difficult to let God love us than to love Him! The best way to love Him in return is to open our hearts and let Him love us.” The Holy Eucharist was celebrated in the Archbishop’s chapel in which the parishioners participated online and prayed to Jesus to have a heart that allows the Sacred Heart to love them and protect them.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the faithful were not able to be present physically in the Holy Eucharist. However, many participated in the online Mass. During the homily, His Grace Archbishop Anil J. T. Couto reminded us that the Heart of Jesus is the symbol of God’s love for the humanity. The gospel of the day too revealed the unconditional and unfathomable love of God. Special intercessory prayers were made for the needs of the Archdiocese and the parish community. The feast day was indeed a graceful one and a day of blessing for all the parishioners of the Sacred Heart Cathedral.

22 The Voice of Delhi Narela Rosary School Principal: Fr. Savariraj Augustine Birthday -A day to take birth, regenerate, reenergize and renovate yesteryears. Mrs. Sonika Jindal and Mr. Antony

une 19, 2021, It was a very special day for Rosary School, Narela Jand Rosary Senior Secondary School, Kheri Manajat as it was our beloved principal and manager Rev. Fr. Savariraj's birthday.

The staff of both the Schools were exulted and excited to celebrate father’s birthday jointly. It was a joyful occasion where Rosarian family came together to greet and wish father whose positive qualities embraced all of us. The program began with welcoming him by placing Tilak and bursting of balloons by staff on his entire way.

The day of birth is a perfect time to give a good start to another year. So, Sr. Saguntala commenced this celebration with prayer and articulation about father. In which she said father is the God's handwork and he is a special blessing and a miracle of love, a man of courage, strength, love, firmness, compassion and kindness. He is quick to sense and quick to act. At the end, she said we should be thankful to the Lord for father's uniqueness and concluded with a thanks giving song. Further, Sr.Amla Vincy, the principal of Rosary Sr. Sec. School and Sr. Wilma prayed and offered petitions for the wellness of father. Seeking the grace of the omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient God, they prayed for our dear loving father.

They further elaborated the life of father with the tree. As a tree offers love, infinite, wisdom and grace in the same way our beloved father brings wisdom, grace to all those who come around him. Root has the power to pull out all the conventional resources and due to the depth of the root, it is the strength of the tree likewise our father, he is the resource of strength to himself and the community. Branches give shade too many lives and give a pleasant view. In the same way, we had experienced in our father life too. He is generous, compassionate in helping the needy. The flower has the power of magic to attract everyone and refreshes our minds. Then, sisters offered greenish magic tree to father and Hindi song was played.

Now, comes to the blooming flowers of our school. The children showed their love and gratitude through a virtual birthday wishes. Great zeal was exhibited among the students which clearly showed us how much they love him.

Thereafter, Antony delivered a scintillating birthday speech. He began saying "humble" yourself before the Lord and He will exalt you. God lives in humility and simplicity. Humility is one of the best qualities of father which reflects in all his dealings with everyone. Fr. Savariraj, despite being the highest authority, treats each and everyone, be its teachers, domestic staff or parishioners, with a high respect. He always walks his talk. His genuine smile, works and deeds attract each and everyone like a magnet. Exalting the hard work and perseverance of Fr. Savariraj, Antony befitted a quote by St. Don Bosco "Man is born to work if he does not work, he goes against the will of God". He affirmed that Fr. Savariraj works the hardest for the welfare of the people. Referring to intelligence, he said that Father is a treasure of knowledge and a walking encyclopedia. He admired that father for being meticulous in everything, even in the less important matters. He highly exalted the birthday baby for being an altruist, always thinking of others' welfare and extending his helping hand to innumerous people without expecting any kind of reward in return. He also mentioned that father, was an innovative forward thinker. The source of his innovation is rooted in his prayer and reflection. He also accepted that father is the best leader, motivator and guide. He has personally accepted father as his role model. He concluded his speech with a birthday wishing “Today you are you...that is truer than true....there is no one alive who is your than you."

July 2021 23 SCHOOL SNIPPETS JULY 2021

After this remarkable speech, he invited him to cut the appetizing birthday cake made by sisters. Making the moment marked forever in the mind of father, the teachers sang a melodious birthday Carol. Succeeding it, dazzling greeting cards, flower vases and gifts were given to him by sisters and teachers.

Then, Fr. Savariraj made his speech in which he has expressed that he is always ready to obey the will of God. He has left no stone unturned for the welfare of the institution. He enjoyed the providence of God and the support of everyone. Being a good leader and guide, he emphasized the significance of leading the institution with examples. He expressed his gratitude to everyone for his efforts. He also encouraged everyone and requested to continue the phenomenal work that they do for the institution. He concluded his speech with a blessing.

The birthday celebration came to an end with a scrumptious meal. It was such a memorable day for father and everyone. We thank God for all His blessings.

Office of the Dead - Memorial Service “In Life, We Loved You Dearly, In Death We Love You Still. In Our Hearts You Hold A Place, No One Else Will Ever Fill.” Deepti Kujur

n June 12, 2021, an Online Memorial Service for the departed souls in the families of St. Michael’s Sr. Sec. School, Pusa Road, New Delhi was conducted by the YCS Committee. ORev. Dr. Sabu Joseph reflected on the Bible passage – A Letter to Timothy which talked about the earthly life well lived and the inevitable death that prevails on all mankind. It is with hope that we leave this world that our “crown” – our blessings await in the kingdom of heaven. Lord will righteously place us in his kingdom hence we must not despair on the death of our beloved departed ones, rather pray for them that they find everlasting grace of God.

Father reminded us that our Lord is not a mean, strict or a vindictive God; he is a forgiving and loving God. The key to enter His kingdom is “to seek forgiveness” of our sins. Therefore, through this prayer service we prayed for the souls, so they receive Lord’s forgiveness and be crowned in His kingdom.

The service was a beautiful amalgamation of hymns and intercessory prayers that lifted our dismal souls to sing and praise our Lord.

34 The Voice of Delhi february 2017 35 was done in consultation with Chetanalya the Diocesan social service forum. CCBI Commission for Migrants was there always to support the Delhi Commission for Migrants as we have the second largest migrant population in India. Training cum ration kit distribution programme Training topics: Safety measures during pandemic & Right to food and livelihood It was the need of the hour to conduct awareness training on COVID – 19 protocol, Vaccination and the guidelines to be followed by the common man. In spite of the earlier experiences on the evil effect of corona virus, people seemed to be careless and carefree about the pandemic which adversely affected the city. Our team visited slums and colonies and communicated the dos and don’ts during the pandemic. As a result, people started wearing mask, registering for vaccination and started using sanitizer or soap. It was very necessary to re - enact the words and deeds of Jesus who fed the hungry multitude. People from every walk of life is badly affected by this pandemic in Delhi. The unimaginable struggle of migrant labourers to have a meal a day made the Commission to look into it and the National Secretariat was generous enough to respond to our request. Fr. Jaison Vadassery, Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Migrants in consultation with CCBI released some funds to the commission. Rs. 300,000/- has been given by CCBI Commission for Migrants to help the migrants in Delhi and Delhi NCR. Team work and collaboration have helped us to train about 2500 people and distributed ration kits to 2000 families in various part of Delhi, Delhi- Haryana & Delhi Uttar Pradesh borders. We reached out to six parishes of Archdiocese of Delhi to assist the tribal migrant labourers from the parishes, the parish priests coordinated for the distribution and enlisting of the needy families. We appreciate the coordination of the parishes and persons: Shrine of Our Lady of Health, Masih Garh Church Okhla, Church of Immaculate Conception, Gurugaon, St. Mark’s Church Punjabi Bagh, Yusuf Sadan, Sacred Heart Cathedral, New Delhi, Shanti Avedna Sadan, New Delhi, Good Shepherd Church, Hauz Khas. Migrants who came to Delhi and are living in Leprosy colony were also given training on safety measures during pandemic and they were also given ration kits with the generous support of ISI Delhi. Hundred families from one colony were focused as of now due to finance constraints. Commission for Migrants feels that the need still exists to help the helpless migrants who have a hand to mouth living. Due to lack of funds we are not able to reach out to every migrant family. Many of them who had gone to their hometown due to pandemic and joblessness are returning now. They need urgent help. While information on safety measures and vaccination are given that will help them to take care of their health if they get work and income to sustain themselves.

Indian Catholic Youths at the Forefront of COVID Response

Fr. Chetan Machado Executive Secretary

Life has come to a grinding halt with the second wave of Corona Virus. When we thought the virus had left us for good, it’s second wave hit us harder. The tragic visuals of patients struggling for medical oxygen and hospital beds and the pile of dead bodies and the cremation workers working overtime to perform the final rights, vehicle parking getting converted to cremation grounds and dead bodies floating in the rivers have left us all shocked and the memories of these images will linger in our minds for a long time to come.

In the midst of this untold tragedy, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), the youth wing of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India was at the forefront of relief services in different parts of our country. The youth threw themselves into the risk of getting infected with the virus and undertook slew relief efforts to help the needy, the poor and migrants through its units spread across the country.

The ICYM units, besides creating awareness campaign through online digital content like with videos and posters to encourage people to go for vaccination, helped the people with relief efforts, physical help, moral support monetary assistance and counselling.

The ICYM units in Chennai, Ranchi, Mangalore, Udupi, Guwahati, Tura, Ahmedabad, Agra, Vasai, Shimoga, Kolkata, Nongstoin,Jhabua, and Delhi have been providing dry ration, cooked food to stranded labourers, giving verified leads on availability of hospital beds with oxygen and ICU beds, finding plasma donors, and providing masks and sanitizers. Some of these groups are even helping people to pay their medical bills.

ICYM units in Karnataka, especially Bengaluru and Mysore have been helping people in the hospitals and with burials/ cremation. Youth groups in Gujarat, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh regions were involved in spreading awareness, distributing dry ration to the poor and needy. Youth volunteers in Eluru, Vishakpatnam, Kadapa, Delhi and Hyderabad have been helping COVID affected people with medicines and counselling. Young people in Pune, Mangalore also are helping in isolation wards, providing ambulance service under their reach out programmes.

The YCS/YSM student movements in the Northeast, Mangalore and Udupi are helping people with ration and also giving monetary support.

The ICYM units in Imphal, Manipur under the banner of MCYO are helping the state government and DC's to render help and do various activities to reduce the pandemic. There are COVID Task Forces in most of the districts that are helping people in bringing awareness and also giving timely assistance.

In Mizoram youth volunteered under the banner of DCTP to help the affected people.

Many units of ICYM have informed that they are going to start post COVID relief-work very soon. As such, steps are being taken to extend the relief activities further.

Young people in India under the banner of Indian Catholic Youth Movement have come to help people with blood donation, plasma donation drives. Most of these volunteers are risking their lives to save others’ lives.

The National office is coordinating awareness campaign on vaccination and alerting people to follow the norms on social distancing and wearing face masks and avoiding crowds.

38 The Voice of Delhi The efforts of our young people have given a fresh lease of life to many. Along with the monetary support, a good number of volunteers are engaged in emotional support like spending time with patients in the hospitals, helping elderly to get admitted, helping families to bury/cremate their dead in a dignified manner. Our units have spent their time and resources generously during this time.

Indian Catholic Youth Movement has always taken the lead to help the affected people during all major disasters. During the flash floods in Kerala and Karnataka in 2018, Nepal earthquake, cyclones and floods, young people belonging to ICYM were always in the forefront to carry out the relief work. Having a membership of over 25 Lakh youth all over the country the ICYM has stood strong with the people in their difficult times. It continues to work for the people affected by COVID and if you need any help kindly contact the following numbers and email. Timely help is assured. As we are grateful to these youth workers and people of good will, we also thank all the Directors who are monitoring their selfless efforts.

40 The Voice of Delhi TESTIMONY A PERIOD OF MIRACLES (18th April to 31st May 2021)

Brenda Noronha My daughter, Bernadine, in Goa was expecting twins and we kept praying that the pregnancy go full term to avoid any complications. Our prayers were answered and she completed her 8 months and started her 9th. Two days later she and her son aged 15 months and husband tested positive for COVID-19. Her doctor, when informed, asked her to register herself at the District hospital (for covid + cases only) in Margao. We were skeptical to send her to a govt. hospital but were left with no option. Soon after registration she was admitted into the hospital and no one, unless covid + could visit her. On 21st April at 4 pm her water broke and no one could be with her at the hospital. We all stormed heaven with our prayers and 2 hours later she delivered twin girls normally and all three doing good (1st Miracle). All are well and recovered from covid. She was protected from going for a C section and the exorbitant bill had she gone to a private clinic. Bernadine had no help and could not manage by herself since only positive cases would be allowed into the hospital. Two days later I decided to risk it and help her out. Managed to enter the hospital with no difficulty, asked Our Lady for an extra cover of Her mantle. I stayed with Bernadine for 4 days in the ladies ward using the same wash rooms. But all the time kept praying to keep me safe. 10 days later I went for the test and pleaded with Our Lady for a Miracle of a negative report, though totally unworthy of one, and the report was negative (2nd Miracle). Bernadine was discharged late evening 27th April and my nephew John drove her and the babies back home amidst heavy rain. I was worried about him driving home a covid + case (he also drove her to get her admitted). But I covered him with the Chaplet of the Memorare for a week and he stayed well showing no signs and no symptoms (3rd Miracle) My brother’s wife, and two sons tested positive on 18th April and were in isolation for 17days while my brother attended to them. His prayer was to keep him well while he looked after his family. Praise the Lord, all got well. On 23rd May my brother tested positive and was looked after by his family. He too has recovered. The Lord answered his prayers. Our Lord and Our Lady just stayed by our side for this entire period while we prayed and pleaded during this difficult time. We cannot thank Him enough for answering or rather healing and curing even before we asked. To family and friends thank you for all your prayers. MIRACULOUS PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Holy Spirit, You who makes me see everything and shows me the way to reach my ideal, You who gives me the divine gift to forgive and forget the wrong that is done to me and You who are in all instances of my life with me, I, in this short dialogue, want to thank You for everything and affirm once more that I never want to be separated from You, no matter how great the material desires may be. I want to be with You and my loved once in Your perpetual glory. Amen.

This prayer should be said for 3 consecutive days without saying your wish or intension. After the 3rd day, your sincere wish will be granted no matter how difficult it may be. Promise to offer thanksgiving by sharing it and expressing it on granting of your favour. The idea is to spread the wonder of the Holy Spirit.
