Nasceu em 04/03/1678 em Veneza, estudou com seu pai, violinista na catedral de San Marcos. Ordenou-se sacerdote em 1703, chamavam-no interprete russo (o cura ruivo), e começou a ensinar no Ospedale della Pietá que era um estabelecimento para meninas órfãs. Trabalhou ali como diretor musical até 1740, como professor e compunha concertos e oratórios para os concertos semanais através dos que conseguiu uma fama internacional. A partir de 1713 Vivaldi também trabalhou como compositor e empresário de óperas em Veneza e viajava a Roma, Mantua e outras cidades para supervisionar as representações de suas óperas. Para 1740 entrou ao serviço do corte do imperador Carlos VI em Viena. Faleceu nesta cidade o 28 de julho de 1741. Composições Vivaldi escreveu mais de 500 concertos e 70 sonatas, 45 óperas, música religiosa como o oratório Judithatriumphans (1716), a Glória em re (1708), missas e motetes. Suas sonatas instrumentais são mais conservadoras que seus concertos e sua música religiosa com frequencia reflete o estilo operístico da época e a alternância de orquestra e solistas que ajudou a introduzir nos concertos. Als naar de overtuiging van een concertgever de interne samenhang van een programma zou worden verstoord door vervanging van een werk door een ander, wordt door de Stichting het respecteren van die overtuiging belangrijker gevonden dan het vermijden van doublures. zaterdag 7 juli om 16.00 uur Organist: Peter van der Zwaag (Concert in het kader van de Friese Bach-estafette 2018) Peter van der Zwaag (*1986) studeerde orgel bij Theo Jellema en Erwin Wiersinga aan het Prins Claus Conservatorium te Groningen en behaalde in 2015 zijn diploma Master of Music. Daarnaast studeerde hij bijvak klavecimbel bij Johan Hofmann. Hij won diverse prijzen op verschillende concoursen, waaronder de eerste prijs op het 6e Internationale Orgelconcours Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (2017). Hij volgde masterclasses bij o.a. Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Wolfgang Zerer, Eric Lebrun, Guy Bovet en Ben van Oosten. Peter van der Zwaag heeft een breed repertoire, met een bijzondere interesse voor 17e-eeuwse en Franse muziek.

Evenals in voorgaande jaren hebben wij gekozen voor een gezamenlijke presentatie van de orgel- en beiaardconcerten en het op elkaar afstemmen van de concertdata. De werken van Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy vormen een belangrijke rode draad die in het komende seizoen door de orgelconcerten loopt. Zo worden in de loop van de concertcyclus alle zes sonates die Mendelssohn voor orgel heeft gecomponeerd ten gehore gebracht. Daarnaast is er veel aandacht voor werken van Max Reger, de befaamde Duitse componist, organist, pianist, dirigent en muziekpedagoog, die 100 jaar geleden overleed.
