Kink Aware Therapy Certification Program www.KTCI.Education Dr. Harmony’s Lexicon of Pride Symbols This pride symbol glossary is a comprehensive list as of 2017. With the coming out of alternative sexual expression, thanks in large part to the Internet, there has been an influx of pride symbols for the last decade. There is little research published on the symbology thus there are no comprehensive symbol lists currently in any publication of scholarly research that I was able to obtain. The symbols that I have chosen to include in this list were selected based upon their consistency of use in popular media and use by national and international organizations that advocate for the various groups. This list was included in this thesis as a reference for mental health professionals. Traditionally some physical observation is part of all standard of care which include noting significant markings, tattoos and piercings. Should your patient not be open to sharing with you their lifestyle, it is important for the counselor or physician to be aware of their clothing, tattoos, and/or jewelry which are common places to find these pride symbols and allows you, the medical practitioner, the opportunity to have additional information which could positively influence your ability to care for them. Also, commenting on the symbols and letting your patient know that you are truly a “Kink aware” provider will hopefully, allow them to relax and be more open in your dialog. Someone has to be cool with giving up total control - and I really like being in control. The other factor is that mummification gives you so much to build off of. Once someone is totally restrained, the scene is really your kinky oyster (Assuming you've negotiated any play after the mummification part!). TAYLORDAWNMODEL For me, I love the tightness and inability to move. It allows me to just mentally drift away and go to my happy place. Mummification allows for such an extreme amount of immobility and is very quick. I like that from both sides of it. I like knowing that every movement in every direction is being impaired and that a sense of helplessness is surrounding the person being mummified. Liberation Through Domination: BDSM Culture and Submissive-Role Women Abstract The alternative sexual practices of bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism (BDSM) are practiced by people all over the world. In this paper, I will examine the experiences of five submissive-role women in the Netherlands and five in south-central Pennsylvania, focusing specifically on how their involvement with the BDSM community and BDSM culture influences their self-perspective.I will begin my analysis by exploring anthropological perspectives of BDSM and their usefulness in studying sexual counterculture, followed by a consideration of feminist critiques of BDSM and societal barriers faced by women in the community.

In the original eight-color version, pink stood for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony and violet for the soul.! " Rainbow Flag First unveiled on 12/5/98 the bisexual pride flag was designed by Michael Page. This rectangular flag consists of a broad magenta stripe at the top (representing same-gender attraction,) a broad stripe in blue at the bottoms (representing opposite- gender attractions), and a narrower deep lavender " band occupying the central fifth (which represents Bisexual Flag attraction toward both genders). The pansexual pride flag holds the colors pink, yellow and blue. The pink band symbolizes women, the blue men, and the yellow those of a non-binary gender, such as a gender bigender or gender fluid Pansexual Flag In August, 2010, after a process of getting the word out beyond the Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) and to non-English speaking areas, a flag was chosen following a vote. The black stripe represents asexuality, the grey stripe the grey-are between sexual and asexual, the white " stripe sexuality, and the purple stripe community. Asexual Flag The Transgender Pride flag was designed by Monica Helms. It was first shown at a pride parade in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in 2000. The flag represents the transgender community and consists of five horizontal stripes. Two light blue which is the traditional color for baby boys, two pink " for girls, with a white stripe in the center for those Transgender Flag who are transitioning, who feel they have a neutral gender or no gender, and those who are intersex.

    Skip to Content SFW CLARE BAYLEY Posted on June 27, 2013 33 comments A field guide to Pride flags It’s almost time for SF Pride, and that means the city is sprouting rainbow flags like flowers in the desert after a rainstorm. By now most people know what the rainbow signifies, but what about those other striped flags you see waving at Pride events? I thought I knew most of their meanings, but I recently came across the most Pride items I’ve ever seen in one place, and they had keychains with flags that I’d never seen before (and my office is a castle that flies Pride flags from the turrets). Here’s a quick overview of all the ones I could find online, plus a more detailed history and analysis for each further down. My sources are cited in-line or listed at the end. The top 3 are the ones most commonly seen at Pride events. Edited on 6/27/15: Updated/added some flags based on reader feedback. Rearranged flag order to loosely group by category. The Gay Pride Rainbow Ah, the rainbow flag. Such a beautiful and bold statement, hard to ignore or mistake for anything else. (also easy to adapt to every kind of merchandise you can imagine) Wikipedia has an extensive article on it, but here are the more interesting bits: The original Gay Pride Flag was first flown in the 1978 San Francisco Pride Parade, and unlike its modern day 6- color version it was a full rainbow – it included hot pink, turquoise, and indigo instead of dark blue.

I had first visited Amsterdam in 1969, rooming wantonly above the Argos Bar, but this was different. It was Holland at the height of the AIDS pandemic, two months after Drummer publisher Anthony DeBlase designed the leather pride flag, three months after the death of leather fashion photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, four months before the earthquake that destroyed the Drummer office, and five months before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Everyone was on edge. Turmoil was in the air. Rob received me and Mark Hemry, my husband and creative partner of ten years, because we were from Drummer, which was very much a leather fashion magazine. Just two hours before, we San Francisco leathermen had landed at Schiphol Airport. We had been flown in by Roger Earl and Terry Legrand, the pioneer filmmakers of the 1975 leather classic Born to Raise Hell.     AMERICAN INFERNO by PATRICK DENKER (Under the Direction of Reginald McKnight) ABSTRACT American Inferno, a novel, is a loose transposition of Dante‟s Inferno into a contemporary American setting. Its chapters (or “circles”) correspond to Dante‟s nine circles of Hell: 1) Limbo, 2) Lust, 3) Gluttony, 4) Hoarding & Wasting, 5) Wrath, 6) Heresy, 7) Violence, 8) Fraud and 9) Treachery. The novel‟s Prologue — Circle 0 — corresponds to the events that occur, in the Inferno, prior to Dante‟s and Virgil‟s entrance into Hell proper. The novel is a contemporary American moral inquiry, not a medieval Florentine one: thus it is sometimes in harmony with and sometimes a critique of Dante‟s moral system. Also, like the Inferno, it is not an investigation just of its characters‟ personal moral struggles, but also of the historical sins of its nation: for Dante, the nascent Italian state; for us, the United States. Thus the novel follows the life story of its principal character as he progresses from menial to mortal sins while simultaneously considering American history from America‟s early Puritan foundations in the Northeast (Chapters 1-4) through slavery, civil war and manifest destiny (Chapters 5-7) to its ultimate expression in the high-technology West-Coast entertainment industry (Chapters 8-9).
