Obligations of the Interns General Responsibilities of the Interns: 1. Meet your mentor within 3 days after arriving Taiwan. 2. Work in the assigned lab with the host mentor for 2 months. 3. Work on the days and times agreed upon with host mentor/ supervisor. If interns did not show up at lab the times agreed with host mentor, TIGP office has right to deduct your stipend. 4. Notify your host mentor of planned absences. If interns need to take a sick leave, they are required to inform your mentor or lab supervisor before the internship take place. 5. Follow the policies, rules, and regulations of TIGP office and host mentor’s lab. 6. Complete assignments, tasks, projects and the final poster that host mentor assigned to the intern. 7. Without the host mentor’s permission, the researches/ projects/ data will be not used by the intern in the future. The Intern specifically agrees to and acknowledges the following: 1. TIGP office or host mentor may at any time terminate the internship if the intern against the policies, regulations, and rules of Academia Sinica or TIGP or lab. If the internship is terminated by TIGP office or host mentor, the stipend will not be given after the internship is terminated or the intern will need to return the stipend of the rest of internship days. 2. Interns will maintain a regular internship schedule determined by the intern and their host mentor/supervisor. 3. Academia Sinica/TIGP office/host mentor will not be responsible for interns’ non-academic dangerous activities. 4. TIGP office will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during my Internship. 5. Monthly Stipend will be given to interns after 15th of the Month. 6. Interns without providing the following items within 3 days will not receive airfare reimbursement. (1) The airfare receipt/invoice with date of purchase (Original copy). (2) Original Airplane ticket/e-ticket(s) and itinerary, and (3) ORIGINAL copy of your boarding pass(es) 7. Reimbursement for half of the price of an economy class hometown to Taipei round trip airfare ticket. Only the cheapest routes will be reimbursed. The amount of airfare reimbursement will be made according to Academia Sinica’s regulation. Please book the round way ticket. This reimbursement will be made in New Taiwan Dollar currency when interns complete the internship. 8. All the students are required to join the basic accidental insurance which will be arranged by TIGP office during the interns stay in Taiwan, the insurance fee will be deducted from the first month of your stipend. Due to the insurance is only the most basic one, you will not be covered by medical insurance in Taiwan. It is strongly suggested that all the interns should buy the medical insurance and travel insurance in their own country before they arrive Taiwan. 9. Interns who fail the registration procedure will not get the stipend until they finished the registration procedure. 10. The intern is personally responsible for arranging his/her travel to Academia Sinica or Partner University. 11. Other than doing the internship in AS or Partner University, the intern is not entitled to work in Taiwan. 12. Work full time in accordance with the requirements set by the hosting mentor. It is a violation of law to hold any other employment during the internship and may lead to deportation. 13. Abide by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and regulations of the host Institution (Academia Sinica or assigned partner university). In the case of serious violation, the internship may be terminated immediately with possible legal consequences. 14. Maintain a professional demeanor during internship. Etc.
