Therefore, the current study was designed and carried out during the past decade. A list of LFPs for 207 butterfly species (Super family Papilionoidea) of Sri Lanka is presented based on local studies and includes 785 plant-butterfly combinations and 480 plant species. Many of these combinations are reported for the first time in Sri Lanka. The impact of introducing new plants on the dynamics of abundance and distribution of butterflies, the possibility of butterflies being pests on crops, and observations of LFPs of rare butterfly species, are discussed. There are no known species in the Indonesian part of New Guinea. Adults and genitalia of all known species, except two previously known species whose types are unknown, are illustrated. A tentative check list of the genus from New Guinea is provided. To facilitate identification of these unusual species, we have included a diagnosis of the tribe Scatellini and of the genus Limnellia and have also provided an annotated key to the South American genera of this tribe. The descriptions are supplemented with illustrations, photographs, and scan- ning electron micrographs of external structures and structures of the male terminalia. ISSN 0013-8851 Abstract About 29,700 Oscinellinae were collected by means of sweep net, water traps and pitfalls in a variety of uncultivated habitats in Denmark mainly in Jutland. So far 75 species belonging to 21 genera are re corded from Denmark. Eleven species are new to the Danish fauna. Morphological details of Aphanotrigonum brachypterum, A. hungaricum, A. nigripes, Conioscinella gallarum, lncertella albipalpis, I. nigrifrons, I. kerteszi, I. scotica and Oscinella angustipennis are presented. The distribu tion of Oscinellinae in the Danish landscape is discussed. In Denmark, farmland dominates, so the two most abundant Oscinellarspecies of ara ble land, Oscinella frit and 0. vastator, are also predominant in most nat ural habitats. Small and larger uncultivated areas, however, making up only 25 % of the Danish landscape, contain a rich fauna of Oscinel lines. The advantage of different sampling methods combined is demonstrated. Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Aquatic Insects in the Dicle (Tigris) River Basin, Turkey, with New Records

Larvae, pupae, pupal exuviae, and nymphs of insects were obtained from samples collected by a plankton net monthly during a 1-year period in 2008 and 2009 at seven different sites of the Dicle (Tigris) River Basin. A total of 35 taxa from the orders Trichoptera (1 taxon), Ephemeroptera (3 taxa), and Diptera (31 taxa) were identified. Chironomidae (Diptera) was the most diverse group and was represented by three major subfamilies, namely Tanypodinae (2 taxa), Orthocladiinae (19 taxa), and Chironominae (7 taxa). Among these species, Nanocladius (Nanocladius) spiniplenus Saether, 1977 is a new record for Turkey as well as for western Asia. In addition, the Psychomyia larvae found for the first time in the Dicle (Tigris) River Basin (Turkey) were described. Both taxa have been illustrated to warrant validation. Taxa number varied spatially from 6 to 14 and temporally from 2 to 12 during the sampling period. Along the river, Cricotopus bicinctus and Orthocladius (S.) holsatus were the most common taxa. Mitochondrial Genome Characterization of the Family Trigonidiidae
www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN Mitochondrial genome characterization of the family Trigonidiidae (Orthoptera) reveals novel structural features and nad1 transcript ends Chuan Ma1,3, Yeying Wang2,3, Licui Zhang1 & Jianke Li1* The Trigonidiidae, a family of crickets, comprises 981 valid species with only one mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) sequenced to date. To explore mitogenome features of Trigonidiidae, six mitogenomes from its two subfamilies (Nemobiinae and Trigonidiinae) were determined. Two types of gene rearrangements involving a trnN-trnS1-trnE inversion and a trnV shufing were shared by Trigonidiidae. A long intergenic spacer was observed between trnQ and trnM in Trigonidiinae (210−369 bp) and Nemobiinae (80–216 bp), which was capable of forming extensive stem-loop secondary structures in Trigonidiinae but not in Nemobiinae. The anticodon of trnS1 was TCT in Trigonidiinae, rather than GCT in Nemobiinae and other related subfamilies. There was no overlap between nad4 and nad4l in Dianemobius, as opposed to a conserved 7-bp overlap commonly found in insects. Furthermore, combined comparative analysis and transcript verifcation revealed that nad1 transcripts ended with a U, corresponding to the T immediately preceding a conserved motif GAGAC in the superfamily Grylloidea, plus poly-A tails. The resultant UAA served as a stop codon for species lacking full stop codons upstream of the motif. Our fndings gain novel understanding of mitogenome structural diversity and provide insight into accurate mitogenome annotation. Te typical mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of insects is a circular molecule ranging in size from 15 kb to 18 kb1. It harbors 37 genes including two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs).
