Please do keep sending them to us, either by post or email. We do, however, reserve the right to edit them if necessary. Although every effort has been made to see that entries are correct, the Club cannot be held responsible for any errors that may have arisen. We would especially like to hear from younger OFs, who have left school relatively recently. We welcome news of your studies, your travels, your families and your lives. We are always pleased to publish news of any OF gatherings or simply memories you have of your time at school. Please send your submissions to Deborah Digby at [email protected] and feel free to contact her if you have any queries on content of submissions. We often receive requests from OFs for information about friends they have lost touch with over the years, so if there is anyone you would like to track down, please let us know and we will post it in the newsletter, if they are not on the OF database. Our newsletters are now posted on the Old Felician section of the school website (www.stfelix.co.uk) and so are accessible to anyone using the site. If you do not wish your personal details to appear on line, please advise us when submitting your news. Please note that the deadline for news for the 2019 newsletter is summer 2018 but we welcome submissions throughout the year. JANUARY 2018 | OLD FELICIANS | 3 REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES The Regional Representatives do a sterling job obtaining email addresses and contact details for local OFs and so ensuring our data base is kept up to date. They continue to arrange local social events including visits to cathedrals and gardens, coffee mornings, lunches in pubs and restaurants and London walks, which are open to ALL OFs, not just those living in their county or country. Why not contact a representative to see if she is organising a get-together? And if your country or county is not represented yet, why don’t you volunteer? It is a great way of renewing friendships made during your time at Saint Felix. Just contact Caroline Macmillan at [email protected] and she will add you to the list. We wish them every success and look forward to hearing their news and to meeting them at future events. Remember to use the OF website on the school website too! OLD FELICIAN WEBSITE Old Felicians have their own section on the school’s website www.stfelix.co.uk, which is currently being updated. There you will find news of forthcoming events as well as reports and photographs of reunions, etc. Contact the OF Club Secretary with contributions. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS Please let us know if you would prefer to receive the newsletter by email, especially if you live abroad, as the cost of posting out the newsletter is soaring. The newsletters are available in PDF form on the OF section of the school’s website. 8 | OLD FELICIANS | JANUARY 2018 CONTRIBUTIONS TO FUTURE NEWSLETTERS We look forward to receiving your contributions, which are one of the most popular features of the newsletter, be they reminiscences, news of what you have done since leaving Saint Felix, reports of get-togethers or reunions or articles of interest to Old Felicians. Please let us know who attended reunions, along with their maiden names and house/dates at Saint Felix. DATABASE – THIS MEANS YOU The latest database is only as good as the information YOU give us, and we are finding that changes, particularly to email addresses, are not kept up to date. This is very frustrating for the regional reps as well as for our membership secretary. PLEASE drop a quick email to [email protected] confirming your latest name, address, email and phone numbers, if any of these have changed. JANUARY 2018 | OLD FELICIANS | 9 CHAIRMAN’S LETTER 2017 Dear Old Felicians This has been a relatively quiet year as far as the OFC is concerned after all the celebrations in 2016. I do feel very fortunate to have been let in gently and carefully guided through my first full year as your Chairman. Caroline has been remarkably tolerant of my many foibles and failings and, as always, she has been efficiency personified. I am grateful to her for providing all documentation well in advance and alerting me to any news about Old Felicians. I attended the lunch at Leander which was so expertly and professionally organised by Rosemary Scott; it was a splendid occasion which I hope may be repeated in the not too distant future. Margaret Angus and I set up an exhibition ‘The Way We Were’ in the Sports Hall foyer to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the founding 10 | OLD FELICIANS | JANUARY 2018 of Saint Felix.

Farlingaye HIGH SCHOOL “The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning.” (Pele, the Greatest) Issue 4 May 2021 2020/2021 Upcoming Head’s Message Events Since the return to school for all students earlier this year, there has been a very intense focus on the creation of grades for our Year 11 and Year 13 students. Staff have been asked Wed 26th May by the exam boards to implement an extremely challenging New Intake Online and demanding process, which is unique to this year. All of Interviews 4.45- 7pm our staff and students connected to those year groups have been working very hard to generate the evidence that will be Thurs 27th & Fri 28th May needed for the final grading judgement, and we have been My Future Self Day Yr exploring and clarifying how the complex administrative and 10 Group 2 quality assurance processes will function. In getting to grips with the grading process, and in supporting, cajoling and motivating students, the staff have really appreciated Mon 31st May the support we and the students have had from their families – it really has been Half Term invaluable. For all concerned, there are only a few weeks of this very intensive work left. We can see the finish line, but we continue to rely on everyone pulling together to Mon 7th June get us there. As always, we want the best for our students, and will continue to liaise Return to school with the exam boards to ensure we meet all their criteria for successful marking and Sat 12th & Sun submission, to ensure that students get the grades their efforts merit.

  • Monday 25 September It Has Been a Flurry Of
Monday 25 September It has been a flurry of parent and carers evenings since we started back. Having met with Year 7 parents and carers last week and Year 10 the week before (please click Year 7 Info Eve and Year 10 Info Eve for copies of the slides shown at these evenings) it is now the turn of Year 11 parents and carers. On Thursday evening we welcome local post-16 providers as Year 11 students consider their next steps and life beyond Debenham High School. This evening is just the start of the process, as we give students a range of support in making their choices. The evening will start with a talk in the main hall at 7.00. The following local post-16 providers will then be present to talk to: Farlingaye High School Framlingham College Hartismere High School Ipswich SChool IPHS Girls Northgate High School Otley Suffolk One Thomas Mills High School West Suffolk College Woodbridge School This week also sees the first of our full year group trips of the year. These trips form an important part of life at Debenham High School, taking learning outside the classroom, opening up the world beyond the classroom walls and allowing opportunities for the development of peer relationships in a different environment. Year 7 head to Colchester Zoo on Tuesday for all this and more. Open Evening For all prospective parents our Open Evening is Thursday 5 October. Please contact Mrs Norman [email protected] at the school office if you wish to keep in touch with the process of applying for a place at Debenham High School.
