Amazing Newsletter August 2017
Like Tweet +1 in Therapy? present a Gig For Eric, celebrating the life of North East music industry legend, Eric Cook 11th September 2017 – The Cluny, Newcastle At Amazing Record Co. we are all still reeling from the loss of our label boss, and good friend, Eric Cook, who passed away in April after a battle with cancer. Eric was more than someone who just worked in the music industry, managed bands, ran a studio or ran record companies. He lived and breathed his passion for music. His infectious laugh could fill a room, and his stories would keep you endlessly entertained. He helped so many and so often that his passing has left a huge void in the industry and especially in the North East. We can think of no better way of marking the fifth month since his passing than to throw a “bloody loud rock gig”, delivered by bands that helped sound track his remarkable career. 'Gig For Eric' will be headlined by Therapy? at Newcastle's Cluny on the 11th September. Tickets are priced at £15 and are on sale now from: seetickets.com Therapy? were one of Eric’s last signings to his own labels Blast and Demolition Records and he brought them with him to Amazing Record Co. too. There was a huge amount of mutual respect between Eric and the band, and it was Andy’s suggestion that we show Eric the respect that he deserved in the best and most suitable manner possible… by putting on a fantastic show to celebrate Eric’s life as a rocker… for at heart that was what he truly was, a rocker and an inspiration to many. -
By: Kylie Worrell
By: Kylie Worrell This October is something else, which doesn’t seem too out of place given what’s happened in 2020 so far… but there are a couple things that are a bit unsettling and alarming, possibly, headed our way. Firstly, did you guys know there is another outbreak in China? According to CNN and other television broadcasting systems, there is an outbreak of a bacterial infection called “ Brucellosis”, after a leak in a biopharmaceutical factory back in 2019. This infection has affected thou- sands now, as it is livestock that normally carries Brucella, which means it could possibly be in the meat that is packaged and shipped over to the U.S.. Most say it is very much similar, if not the same as Mediterranean fever, which can cause fatigue, muscle pain, nausea, headaches and high fevers and sometimes these symp- toms never subside, they can swell the organs and it can lead to many complications including death. Human to human transmission is rare, but be careful around livestock and the meat you eat. https://www.health.com/condition/infectious-diseases/brucellosis-outbreak-china?amp=true https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/09/17/asia/china-brucellosis-outbreak-intl-hnk/index.html Next, do not panic! As we all know, election day is November 3rd, 2020. Ironically, there is an asteroid on course to collision, if not very close to collision, with us. As of now, NASA has not said much besides on twitter and local news sta- tions. National news stations have gotten word of this and have exploited it. -

2017 in Music
DECEMBER 2017 FREE 2017 IN MUSIC M N E K Connected to music... Sorry to be cliché but we cant believe it is already time for our New Year’s edition. And what a year it has been: Mac DeMarco brought out his long-anticipated new album, Oasis boys Noel and Liam Gallagher were both back on top form, (albeit separately), and our cover-star MNEK released his first solo single in three years. The 22-year old Londoner is original, quietly charismatic and ambitious. His writing and pro- duction credits include Madonna, Stomzy and golden-child Beyoncè, but it wasn’t until his solo track Paradise was released in late October, that he finally got the recognition he deserved. This year hasn’t all been peaches and cream however. We only have to cast our minds back to the bombing at Arianna Grande’s concert that saw 22 lives taken. One Love and We Are Manchester charity events came soon afterwards, bringing en eclectic mix of bands and artists to the city and proved the theory that Northerners will never be defeated. We hope you enjoy this issue. Sit down by the fire, put on our Wired Winter playlist on Spotify, and have a merry old time. See you in 2018. Kudos to the Fort Wayne folks who have made this plethora of entertainment options possible – because in 20 years of publishing northeast Indiana’s free- distribution arts and entertainment weekly, we’ve never seen a summer quite like this one.
