  • Olympia-Generalprobe Geht an Die Norweger

  • Hungary's Liu Brothers Leading the Charge for Honors at ISU European
January 22, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Hungary’s Liu brothers leading the charge for honors at ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships The 24th ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships take place from January 24-26 in Debrecen, Hungary – and the host nation will have high hopes of winning a clutch of gold medals. Budapest-born brothers Shaolin Sandor and Shaoang Liu have been among Europe’s elite racers for several years and became national heroes two seasons ago when they formed half of the 5000m Men’s Relay team – along with Viktor Knoch and Csaba Burjan – who won gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Hungary is a proud Olympic nation, with 178 gold medals in the summer Games – placing it ninth on the overall table – but the team’s heroics in the Republic of Korea led to the nation’s first winter gold. Since then, the siblings have made serious progress individually too: they’ve regularly made podiums on the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating circuit, and Shaolin Sandor was crowned overall ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Champion last season, with Shaoang winning the silver. The duo have already expressed excitement about this competition coming to their homeland and identified Debrecen as the focal point of their season. They’re certainly in suitable form to enter the tournament with real optimism. Shaolin Sandor, 24, won the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating 500m in Montreal earlier this season; Shaoang, 21, took the win in the same distance in Nagoya. In Shanghai, meanwhile, Shaolin Sandor won both 500m gold medals.

  • Anastasiya Kuzmina Interview
Anastasiya Kuzmina Tell us in brief who you are? Hi! I am Anastasiya Kuzmina, professional biathlete from Slovakia. Apart from being outdoors for biathlon, skiing and roller skiing, are there any other outdoor activities you love? My favourite outdoor activities are Nordic Walking and trekking in the mountains. Canoeing and biking are also outdoor activities which I like very much, and they are also sports I utilise as a part of training for the coming racing season. Tell us why anyone should start roller skiing? To start with, roller skiing is a part of training for a lot of professional and top athletes. Of course, roller skiing is also very similar to normal winter-time cross country skiing, so it is an excellent summer training activity. Secondly, It’s a good choice as a functional and special power training method during the summer season. Last and most importantly, it’s cool and fun! As you are one of the world’s best biathletes, have you ever considered participating in a triathlon or modern pentathlon competition? Or any other sport competitions? During the summer season I quite often participate in extreme run races, orienteering and summer biathlon com- petitions on roller skis. These are very good ways to keep fit and to diversify my training. You were quite enthusiastic about figure skating and karate when you were younger. What made you choose biathlon in the end? When I was younger, I tried quite a few kinds of sports for fun, including figure skating and karate too. My parents are former cross-country skiers and biathletes, so choosing biathlon as my main form of sport in the end was a quite natural choice.

The research file consisted of 261 second stage primary pupils, 145 boys and 116 girls at the age from 10 to 15, who filled in the questionnaire ten days after finishing of the Winter Olympic Games held in Sochi. We used 14 questions in the questionnaire, consisting of the closed, half-open and open questions and 3 identification questions related to the sex of a respondent, age and respective school year of individual respondents. We can claim that among the most interesting findings there were: Firstly, more than 95% pupils knew what town was the organiser of the Winter Olympic Games in 2014. Secondly, more than 75% of the pupils were watching these Winter Olympic Games too. The most information about the Winter Olympic Games the pupils gained was via the TV and the internet. The favourite sports watched by the pupilswere ice hockey, biathlon, ski-jump and snowboarding.
