Deste total, foram registrados 89 nas últimas 24 horas e o restante por exames coletados em dias anteriores e que tiveram seus resultados inseridos no sistema, pelos municípios, na data de ontem. Desta forma, hoje o Tocantins registra um total de 578.763 pessoas notificadas com a Covid-19 e acumula 194.988 casos confirmados da doença. Destes, pacientes 175.381 estão recuperados e 16.459 estão ainda ativos (em isolamento domiciliar ou hospitalar), além de 3.148 óbitos. TABELA 1. The field acquisition exhibits the performance of different shallow methods in describing the riverbed architectural Barra do Garças facies and shows how each method behaves depending on the kind of interface. All survey lines were run along the main river channel: Responses were acquired at specific sites related to sandy sediments, rocky outcrops and gravel/coarse grain concentrated deposition. The combination of these geophysical data allows discussing methodology to describe geometry of sedimentary structures. Welcome to the Ornithological Congress of the Americas! Puerto Iguazú, Misiones, Argentina, from 8–11 August, 2017 Puerto Iguazú is located in the heart of the interior Atlantic Forest and is the portal to the Iguazú Falls, one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area surrounding Puerto Iguazú, the province of Misiones and neighboring regions of Paraguay and Brazil offers many scenic attractions and natural areas such as Iguazú National Park, and provides unique opportunities for birdwatching. Over 500 species have been recorded, including many Atlantic Forest endemics like the Blue Manakin (Chiroxiphia caudata), the emblem of our congress. This is the first meeting collaboratively organized by the Association of Field Ornithologists, Sociedade Brasileira de Ornitologia and Aves Argentinas, and promises to be an outstanding professional experience for both students and researchers. The congress will feature workshops, symposia, over 400 scientific presentations, 7 internationally renowned plenary speakers, and a celebration of 100 years of Aves Argentinas! Proposta de Delimitação Territorial do MATOPIBA | 2 1. UMA NOVA FRONTEIRA AGRÍCOLA A expressão MATOPIBA resulta de um acrônimo criado com as iniciais dos estados do Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí e Bahia. Existem outras denominações equivalentes, menos utilizadas como MAPITOBA, por exemplo. Essa expressão designa uma realidade geográfica que recobre parcialmente os quatro estados mencionados, caracterizada pela expansão de uma fronteira agrícola baseada em tecnologias de alta produtividade. As mudanças no uso e ocupação das terras no MATOPIBA possuem características diferenciadas em relação ao que foi, por exemplo, o processo de expansão da agricultura na calha sul da Amazônia, nas décadas de 1970 e 1980, marcado pelo desmatamento. Essa ocupação caracterizou-se inicialmente, por um uso agropecuário das terras de baixa produtividade, tanto no caso dos pequenos agricultores (projetos de colonização e assentamentos agrários), como nos grandes empreendimentos de pecuária. No caso do MATOPIBA, salvo algumas exceções, não ocorreram desmatamentos significativos e sim mudanças no uso e na condição fundiária das terras. As pastagens nativas extensivas e tradicionais, em áreas de campos e cerrados, são substituídas por culturas anuais intensificadas com novas tecnologias de produção, incluindo a irrigação. Esse dinamismo é ilustrado pela velocidade das mudanças no uso e ocupação das terras no oeste baiano entre 1985 e 2010 (Fig. -

E-mail: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] ABSTRACT: The Cerrado (Brazilian savanna) is the second largest Brazilian biome (204 million hectares) and due to its location in the Brazilian Central Plateau it plays an important role in terms of water production and distribution throughout the country. Eight of the twelve Brazilian hydrographic regions receive water from this Biome. It contributes to more than 90% of the discharge of the São Francisco River, 50% of the Paraná River, and 70% of the Tocantins River. Therefore, the Cerrado is a strategic region for the national hydropower sector, being responsible for more than 50% of the Brazilian hydroelectricity production. Furthermore, it has an outstanding relevance in the national agricultural scenery. Despite of the relatively abundance of water in most of the region, water conflicts are beginning to arise in some areas. The objective of this paper is to discuss the economical and ecological relevance of the water resources of the Cerrado. Key-words: Brazilian savanna; water management; water conflicts. INTRODUCTION The Cerrado is the second largest Brazilian biome in extension, with about 204 million hectares, occupying 24% of the national territory approximately. Its largest portion is located within the Brazilian Central Plateau which consists of higher altitude areas in the central part of the country. -

Thanks to Mark Gawn for sharing his Blue Finch photo Bare-eyed Antbird was one of many highlights from this fun trip From the unparalleled biodiversity of the primeval Amazonian forest to the amazing abundance of wildlife in the Pantanal, this tour is always fascinating and great fun, and the superb lodges and tasty food make it especially enjoyable. This year was wetter than normal and we even got soaked once in the Pantanal, which is almost unheard of in July; the extra water definitely helped the overall bird numbers, so I certainly was not complaining, and it was still pretty darn dry compared to most South American tours. When I asked the group at the end of the trip for favorite sightings, everyone mentioned something totally different. There were so many memorable sightings that trying to pick one, or even a few, was almost futile. Some that were mentioned, in no real order, included: superb close-ups of Bare-eyed Antbirds at an antswarm at Cristalino (photo above); the “ginormous” Yellow Anaconda we saw crossing the Transpantanal Highway on our last full day, the minute and fabulous Horned Sungem from the Chapada, a superb encounter with the rare White-browed Hawk from one of the towers at Cristalino, our very successful hunt for the newly-described Alta Floresta Antpitta, and last but far from least, the magnificent Jaguar we saw for an extended period of time along the banks of the Três Irmãos River. -
Brazil's Eastern Amazonia
The loud and impressive White Bellbird, one of the many highlights on the Brazil’s Eastern Amazonia 2017 tour (Eduardo Patrial) BRAZIL’S EASTERN AMAZONIA 8/16 – 26 AUGUST 2017 LEADER: EDUARDO PATRIAL This second edition of Brazil’s Eastern Amazonia was absolutely a phenomenal trip with over five hundred species recorded (514). Some adjustments happily facilitated the logistics (internal flights) a bit and we also could explore some areas around Belem this time, providing some extra good birds to our list. Our time at Amazonia National Park was good and we managed to get most of the important targets, despite the quite low bird activity noticed along the trails when we were there. Carajas National Forest on the other hand was very busy and produced an overwhelming cast of fine birds (and a Giant Armadillo!). Caxias in the end came again as good as it gets, and this time with the novelty of visiting a new site, Campo Maior, a place that reminds the lowlands from Pantanal. On this amazing tour we had the chance to enjoy the special avifauna from two important interfluvium in the Brazilian Amazon, the Madeira – Tapajos and Xingu – Tocantins; and also the specialties from a poorly covered corner in the Northeast region at Maranhão and Piauí states.
