Where is the site?

Situated on the eastern side of the town, Haroldslea Meadows is a short distance from Horley town centre, rail station and local schools. The site is in a sustainable location and ideally located to encourage walking and cycling. The existing site, which is within the defined built up area of Horley, comprises two residential properties on the southern side of Haroldslea Drive. No.50 to the north of the site is a bungalow fronting onto Haroldslea Drive with a large L-shaped garden to the rear and Laburnum, which is currently accessed from a private driveway, is a large bungalow which benefits from attached paddocks to the south.

What is being proposed?

Our proposals for the site are still in the early stage and our public consultation with local stakeholders and the community will be an opportunity to provide feedback and help to shape the proposals before any application is submitted. Our initial sketch proposals shown to the left include for the provision of approximately 45 new homes, with 30% being designated as affordable in order to meet local needs. The sketch proposals have been designed around extensive open space, including a new central village green area which would provide a focal point for the development. The development is proposed to access onto Haroldslea Drive, with the existing bungalow at no.50 demolished to make way for the new road. Links to existing public footpaths around the site would promote walking, cycling and access to the countryside.
