Otuer asixm loca l rideerss ferorm vthee E cccleshboaurnme Eqpueistorian Ts eam representing Derbyshire at the National Schools County Championships all came home with smiles, rosettes and team prizes after a tough competition against 95 other schools from across England and Wales. The show jumping course was extremely technical with tight twists and turns, imposing brightly coloured jumps and a daunting wall that caused many rider falls and a long queue with the paramedics! Fortunately all Ecclesbourne riders jumped both rounds brilliantly in all their classes. The Intermediate 90cms team of Sammy Harvey, Becky Fenton, Stephanie Faulkner and Jenny O’Driscoll finished on just four faults and held first place for a nail biting hour until they got knocked off by Hertfordshire to finish a very respectable second place out of 23 county teams. The same four riders formed the dressage team and had a very early start being the second team into the arenas at 9:10am to ride their prelim tests. After waiting most of the day for the results and watching some lovely dressage ponies practice in the sunshine, the girls were really pleased to be placed 8th. The warm-up rounds were held the day before the Championship classes and are equally fiercely competitive competitions. Tara Foster came 2nd in her Mini 70cms show jumping class, Amy Foster came 7th in the Intermediate SJ and Becky came 3rd in the dressage.
