Some of those we have good knowledge of e.g. Milton Place, Broadstairs, with a plaque: C [builder Culmer] over D S built 1673; and built in flint and brick. It yvas detached and had gables at both ends with Ch Ped, ogee, Cv, demolished 1910 for road widening. Also 18-19, Watling Street, Canterbury, C17 in red brick, bombed June 1942 from KAS yvebsite. Others are only anecdotal. One estimate for Deal losses in WWII alone are 38. There are at least four where through repair or damage the curves have been straightened: Broadstairs, Sandwich and tyvo in Staple. Total: up to 90 lost? Victorian Dutch or Flemish Revival: From approximately 1849 to 1910 (nearly 's reign) there was a renewal of incorporating curvilinear gables in buildings, particularly in and cities and expertly designed by N. Shaw in London especially, but found throughout the country. In Kent there are at least 141 noticed in passing. Furthermore they are still being built occasionally as at London Road, Ramsgate (and Avlsham, Norfolk). They are given a variety of labels in reports (24 at last count) but the heading above is simpler and more accurate.
