Domestic horses have a lifespan of around 25 years. I love horses because they are so gentle and help blind people. Dogs Their sense of smell is at least 40x better than ours. ... Some have such good noses they can sniff out medical problems. ... Dogs can sniff at the same time as breathing. I love animals because they are kind and gentle and look so cute. By the animal lover! Q. After a successful season, what was the reaction to qualifying for the play-offs? Everyone at the club has worked very hard this season in what has been a really difficult and challenging schedule with regards to fixtures. We seem to have played every three or four days, and the attitude and commitment of the players and staff has been key to that. We’ve not got the biggest squad in the division, so it was a big ask of my players to consistently deliver good results when they’re coming up against teams with much bigger squads. But we did that really well, and we were very happy to have made the play-offs and make our fans feel proud. Q. What goals does the club want to achieve for next season? At Swansea City, we focus very much on what is in front of us. So the focus for now is our game against Barnsley, and we’re putting everything into that in order to produce a result that will hopefully be enough to send us into the play-off final. But, overall, a big part of what we do is making the fans feel proud. Ever since the first day I arrived here as head coach, I sensed a special feeling between the fans, the club and the community. Everyone in the city is a Swans fan and wants the club to do well. So we have a big commitment to doing our best every single day, in every training session and game, to ensure that Swansea City supporters walk around in their Swans shirts feeling proud of the team they support. Q. Who are the fastest players in the team? Who is the king of the gym? 7 Jamal Lowe is pretty fast – I don’t think anyone is beating him in a foot race. Jamal is pretty strong too, but the king of the gym is Freddie Woodman. We have a really good squad in terms of professionalism and attitude towards gym work, but if you really need me to pick someone, then Freddie just about pips everyone else. Q. Who is the funniest squad member or who plays the practical jokes? We have a few comedians in the squad. Ryan Bennett is really funny – he’s always making the lads laugh around the training ground. But the king of comedy is Ryan Manning. He is always cracking a joke and putting smiles on his team-mates’ faces. You need characters like that within a squad. It’s important that everyone is enjoying themselves and get on with each other. But all the lads know when it’s time to have a laugh and when they have to be focussed and work hard. Interview by Ella Drew Chief Sports Correspondent to the Swans! 8 Wally the Walrus Breaking news! People have been spotting a walrus in Ireland and now Tenby. The walruses name is Wally he enjoys chilling on Tenby Harbour and eats fish all day. Wally is meant to be in the artic, so how did he end up in Wales? Here are a few fun facts. Walruses can weigh 1.5 tones! Walruses swim at an average speed to 4.35 mph Walruses can live to 40 years of age in the wild. Wally is an Atlantic walrus you can also get a walrus that is from the pacific. I love Walruses they look so big, cuddly and warm (probably because of the amount of food they eat). I am so fascinated by these amazing water creatures. Walruses have so much blubber on them (usually to keep them warm in the artic). Fans have been flocking around Wally, as he is the latest craze. 9 Unfortunately, some silly people have been shouting and throwing things at Wally. Wally has been causing trouble. He has dumped himself down on the lifeguard ramp and when the RNLI needed to launch their lifeboat out on the water, they had to use an air horn to move Wally. Wally also likes eating clams that are stuck to huge rocks. He uses his big tusks to peal the clams of the rocks. Wally probably is going to be getting back to the Artic soon because walruses are used to freezing cold water. I have not seen Wally in person yet because he has moved to Cornwall! By Ella Drew 10 The Great Beach Clean-Up! Recently my football team (Waunarlwydd Galaxy) arranged to help with a litter pick at Swansea beach. I volunteered to pick up the mess and rubbish left behind by the litterbugs. I was angry and surprised to see how messy the beach was. I have seen more litter in Swansea than usual over the last few months. I have seen litter on Beaches, parks, sports fields and even on walking paths. Some of the things I collected that were buried in the sand was shocking. I picked up lots of nails and broken glass which is dangerous for animals and people that use the beach.
