Brentford Stun Arsenal Leicester Pip Wolves As Brighton Rally to Beat Burnley
ARAB TIMES, SUNDAY, AUGUST 15, 2021 16 Liverpool fans cheer during the English Premier League soccer match between Norwich City and Liverpool at Carrow Road Stadium in Norwich, England. (AP) Sports Latest sports scores at — http://sports.arabtimesonline.com BENITEZ OPENS EVERTON TENURE WITH WIN,VILLA STRUGGLE WITHOUT GREALISH Man United, Chelsea underline title credentials; Brentford stun Arsenal Leicester pip Wolves as Brighton rally to beat Burnley MANCHESTER, England, Aug 14, (AP): Bruno Fer- nandes scored a hat trick and Paul Pogba set up four goals as Manchester United thrashed Leeds 5-1 Saturday to make a state- ment about their Premier League title credentials. On a day when Jadon Sancho made his debut off the bench and Raphael Varane was presented as the club’s second big signing, a packed crowd at Old Trafford was treated to a midfi eld clinic by Unit- ed’s two most high-profi le players against a fi erce local rivals. Pogba set up Fernandes for United’s 30th-minute opener and, after Luke Ayling equalized with a long-range strike in the 49th, played in Mason Greenwood for a low, angled shot that regained the lead for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. Fernandes was the beneficiary of another through-ball from Pogba before cutting inside and driving in a low effort that just went over the line before being cleared away by Ayling. And after Fernandes completed his first hat trick for United by running SOCCER onto a long pass by Victor Lindelof and rifling a shot high into the net, Pogba made it four assists for the match - one more than he managed in the whole of last season - by providing the cross that Fred swept home in the 68th. -

The move to Upton Park came about when, in 1904, Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company owner Arnold Hills was having financial issues. Hills was unwilling to re-negotiate a deal for the club to remain at Memorial Grounds, meaning the Hammers needed to find a new place to call home. Upton Park was settled upon, where the club would play its football from the 1904/05 season right up until 2016. The stadium, which was originally named The Castle, was built next to and in the grounds of Green Street House. The pitch was laid on an area that had previously been used to grow cabbages and potatoes. The stadium originally consisted of a small West Stand, a covered terrace backing on to Priory Road and changing rooms placed in the north- west corner between the West Stand and North Bank. West Ham’s first game at Upton Park came on Thursday, 1 September 1904, when they beat long-standing rivals 15 THE BOLEYN’S Farewell Millwall 3-0 in front of 10,000 fans. -
