The relationships between Poland and Ukraine have never been so intensive and friendly. However, few people know that the Jagiellonian University of Tarnopol through its Centre for Foreign Law Schools, has contributed to changes in Polish-Ukrainian contacts by running the School of Polish and European Law at the State Economic University for five years. Ukrainian students have the opportunity to get to know Polish and European laws, their transformations and business rules. The collaboration between Polish and future active participants of the Ukrainian business sphere is to create a favourable climate for investments between these two countries and enables Ukrainian economists and lawyers to acquire profound knowledge about the Polish and European legal system. The programme of Polish Law started in the academic year 2001/2002. For the first two years it was financed by the Foundation ‘Education for Democracy’, PAUCI Polish- American-Ukrainian Co-operation Initiative, several lawyers’ offices in Krakow and two banks: Volkswagen Bank Polska and BP Polska. Currently, it is the HERTIE Foundation that finances the programme. The School of Polish and European Law is organised for graduate students of the State University of Economics in Tarnopol as well as graduate students of other Ukrainian higher schools of economics. The programme is very popular with students. Each year there are about 150 students. The courses are conducted by the lecturers of the Faculty of Faculty of Law and Administration – hall Law and Administration, Jagiellonian University, as well as legal practitioners and outstanding practitioners in the field of economics.
