Openbaar vervoer voor Duin- en Bollenstreek: feiten en opties © 2017 Joseph J.M. Evers / Noordwijk, augustus 2017 Perspectief De automobiliteit begint steeds meer vast te lopen, vooral rond en in stedelijke conglomeraties. Het rapport Nationale markt- en capaciteitsanalyse, opgesteld in opdracht van het ministerie Infrastructuur en Milieu, bevestigt weer eens de ernst ervan; de NRC (22 juli 2017) maakt er uitgebreid melding van. Forenzen verzeilen steeds meer en langer in files; vooral in de Randstad. Ook al omdat de aantallen inwoners en de economie toenemen. Goed is openbaar vervoer wordt een noodzaak, maar dat functio- neert nu onvoldoende. Er zijn capaciteitsproblemen in de steden en soms ook schiet de inrichting ervan te kort, aldus het rapport. Deze ontwikkelingen treffen ook Duin- en Bollenstreek. Veel inwoners foren- zen naar de omringende stedenband: Amsterdam, Schiphol, Leiden, Den Haag en Delft. Andersom moet de streek goed bereikbaar blijven voor recreanten, toeristen en forenzen die er komen werken. Deze studie komt voort uit de vraag om de bereikbaarheid van Noordwijk en Noordwijkerhout te- gen deze achtergrond te beoordelen en suggesties op te stellen ter verbetering. Maar omdat reizen de gemeentelijke grenzen overschrijdt, is gekeken naar Duin- en Bollenstreek als geheel. Ook op bestuur- lijk niveau is dit wenselijk. Immers de inrichting van voorzieningen op dit gebied en de verlening van concessies voor de uitvoering van busvervoer vindt plaats op provinciaal niveau. Ook bij de regio Hol- land Rijnland staat mobiliteit hoog op de agenda. Diverse rapporten circuleren. De meeste zijn geformu- leerd in algemene verkeers- vervoerskundige concepten. Maar de inrichting van openbaar vervoer is concreet maatwerk; in algemeenheden kun je niet reizen. -

GODINE Maurits Biesbrouck1, Theodoor Goddeeris2 and Omer Steeno3 Summary Reiner Solenander (1524-1601) was a physician born in the Duchy of Cleves, who got his education at the University of Leuven and at various universities in Italy and in France. Back at home he became the court physician of William V and later of his son John William. In this article his life and works are discussed. A report on the death of Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564), noted down by Solenander in May 1566, one year and seven months after the death of Vesalius, is discussed in detail. Due to the importance of that document a copy of its first publication is given, together with a transcription and a translation as well. It indicates that Vesalius did not die in a shipwreck. Establishing the context for a recently discovered copy after a lost panel by Geertgen tot Sint Jans in the Pommersfelden Book of Hours, Ms. 343* In the Museum der bildenden Künste in Leipzig there is a sixteenth-century panel depicting The Institution of the Rosary. The style of the figures and the way in which different moments from the story are distributed organically over the picture surface suggest that it is a copy after a lost work that Geertgen tot Sint Jans painted for the Haarlem Confraternity of the Rosary (fig. 1).1 The left half shows the Virgin appear- ing to the kneeling St Dominic, who is receiving the rosary from the Christ Child. Mayer1*, Hope Mayo2, Erin Mysak3, Theresa J. Smith4 and Katherine Eremin5 Abstract The Emerson-White Hours (MS Typ 443–443.1, Houghton Library, Harvard University) is a book of hours and missal produced in Valenciennes, Bruges, and Ghent in the late 1470s or early 1480s. There are seven full-page miniatures (many more have been removed), fourteen historiated borders, 28 historiated initials, and 24 calendar illustrations in tempera and gold. Text pages have shell gold trompe-l’oeil borders. The illuminators include Simon Marmion, the Master of the Houghton Miniatures (named for this manuscript), the Master of the Dresden Prayerbook, and one of the Ghent Associates. The goal of analysis was to determine if identifcation of palettes supported previous stylistic attributions. Focusing on the illuminations attributed to Simon Marmion and the Houghton Master, we demonstrate that technical analysis can support attribution by identifying diferences in artists’ pigment preferences, pigment blending, and technique of paint application, particularly how the artists render shadows. EN ROYAL MONASTERY The masterpiece OF BROU of an emperor’s daughter The Royal Monastery of Brou, an exceptional monument, is the result of the determination at the dawn of the Renaissance of a European Princess: Margaret of Austria (1480 – 1530), daughter of an emperor, Duchess of Savoy and Regent of the Netherlands. Its church, built to commemorate her love for her deceased husband Philibert the Handsome, is famous for its elegant tombs carved in marble and alabaster. The unity of its construction, its lavish decoration and its polychrome, glazed tiles make it a masterpiece of the Flamboyant Gothic style. The three two-storey cloisters, which reveal both the skill of the builders and the life of the monks, contain the Princess’s apartments and the rich collections of the Museum of Fine Art.
