New Regionalized DIRTcar Sportsman-Modified Series Format a. The series has been divided into four (4) regions and expanded to thirty-two point and non-point series events. The format is similar to a playoff system, with home track points and regional races seeding drivers into a five-race championship series in late September and October. b. Home Track Bonus points are required and will be awarded to drivers at the completion of Labor Day Weekend. c. All Regional Series events are scheduled from April through September 24. At the completion of the regional series event schedule, all driver points will be converted to bonus points identical to home track points, with 1000 points being awarded to the regional series champion down to 900 for the 25th place finisher. d. Drivers are encouraged to travel to other regional events and will earn twenty (20) extra points toward the series championship for each out of region start up to a maximum of five (5) (maximum extra points attainable = 100 points). These points will be added to a driver’s home track and regional bonus total. e. Drivers from all four regions will be merged into a single point run-down on September 25. f. The Fall Championship Challenge will bring all four regions into a five-race shootout for the overall championship. Each of these races will race under the 150-point scale and will not be converted to bonus points. g. The DIRTcar Sportsman-Modified Series Champion will be the driver that earns the most points from home track bonus points, regional series bonus points, any added extra point races and all points earned in the five event Fall Championship Challenge Series. F.A.Q. a. Drivers may choose their region in which to chase points. It may be a different region than a driver’s home track. b. Drivers may chase points in multiple regions in order to earn maximum points. A driver’s best region will be used when awarding regional bonus points. The other regional events will qualify toward a driver’s extra start bonus events. c. Drivers that attend “out of region” events need only attempt to qualify in order to earn their 20 extra start points. d. The final point event will be at Brockville Ontario Speedway on Friday, October 13. The World Short Track Championship at The DIRT Track at Charlotte, October 26-28 is a non-point series event. e. Each of the four (4) regional champions will be guaranteed starters at Super DIRT Week in Oswego and also presented a trophy at the year-end DIRTcar banquet. f. All series event winners across all regions will earn a starting spot in the All-Star Invitational at the World Short track Championship in Charlotte.
