Conti di Buscareto aims to rediscover the old Marche vines with a goal to produce indigenous wine using new, modern methods. The winery has concentrated on, above all else, the vines of the “Lacrima Nera” (Black Tear), a variety of red berry typical of the hills which encircle the little town of Morro D’Alba, including the villages of Belvedere Ostrense, Monte San Vito, Ostra, San Marcello, and the town of Senigallia (with exception of the hill slopes which face the Adriatic Sea). The name “lacrima” (“tear”) is due to the particular effect of loss of juice from the grape when it becomes very mature. The farm of Conti di Buscareto owns about 70 hectares of vineyards, about 35 of which are located in Arcevia and are dedicated to the most famous vine in the Marche Region–Verdicchio. Some 16 hectares are settled in Morro D’Alba on the hill crest of S. Amico, another eight hectares in Monte San Vito are devoted to the production of the d.o.c. Rosso Piceno, and 10 hectares in Camerata Picena to the Esino Rosso. FOR MORE INFORMATION AND ACCREDITATIONS PLEASE CONTACT: I.E.E.M.
