FeatureFeaturess of the Pyrotechnic Musical

Six Highlights  First -time use of f ireworks : For the first time, fireworks will be featured in the show, together with pyrotechnics, special lighting effects and music, to orchestrate an eight-minute pyrotechnic musical.  Largest scale in the event’s history : Fireworks and pyrotechnics will be launched at various heights across the harbour and on the shore, so that the show will cover an area higher and wider than in any previous edition.  All eyes on the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre : The iconic Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will be the focal point, with a gigantic LED screen set up next to the building to display the numerals “2014” when the

clock strikes midnight. Pyrotechnics will also be launched from the roof of seven buildings in and Admiralty.  A shore-to-shore show : The pyrotechnics will be launched in six layers, both skywards and from towards the other side of the harbour.  Festive firework elements : Heart- and smiley-shaped fireworks will be launched to exude cheerfulness.  An awe-inspiring, immersive experience : Spectators will be able to fully immerse themselves in the spectacular show, as pyrotechnics will be launched close to the harbour front in Tsim Sha Tsui. Theme Music Produced by renowned music producer and composer Mr Chiu Tsang Hei “Make a Wish on • Every 15 minutes starting from 11:00pm, a pyrotechnic display a Shooting Star” will be launched from the rooftops of the seven participating Session buildings on (Central Plaza, CITIC Tower, Harbour Centre, Harcourt House, Hopewell Centre, Immigration Tower, and Revenue Tower), lighting up the sky with “shooting stars”. • The stars will come in four colours to symbolise good wishes in four areas: - Silver for career - Green for health - Gold for fortune - Red for love

Event Rundown

Time Activity 11:00pm • A silver-themed pyrotechnic display from atop the seven participating buildings on Hong Kong Island, symbolising wishes for career success. • New Year blessings will appear on the giant LED screen set up next to the HKCEC. 11:15pm • A green-themed pyrotechnic display from atop the seven participating buildings on Hong Kong Island, symbolising wishes for good health. • Music and dance performances will begin on the HKCC Viewing Deck and will be projected onto the façade of the HKCC. 11:30pm • A gold-themed pyrotechnic display from atop the seven participating buildings on Hong Kong Island, symbolising wishes for good fortune. 11:45pm • A red-themed pyrotechnic display from atop the seven participating buildings on Hong Kong Island, symbolising wishes for good luck in love. • The event will be broadcast live on Television Broadcasts Limited’s (TVB) Jade Channel. 11:59:00pm • The numerical countdown will commence on the giant LED screen set up next to the HKCEC. 2

11:59:40pm • The Countdown Celebrations Launch Ceremony will begin. 11:59:50pm • The numerical countdown of the last 10 seconds of 2013 will commence on the giant LED screen next to the HKCEC. Midnight • The eight-minute pyrotechnic musical will commence, with the pyrotechnics and fireworks launched from the harbour and surrounding buildings at the same time. • The numerals “2014” will appear on the giant LED screen next to the HKCEC to the accompaniment of theme music produced by Mr Chiu Tsang Hei. 12:08am • The pyrotechnic musical will end. 12:30am • The live broadcast of the event by TVB will end.

• The New Year Countdown Celebrations will be broadcast live on TVB Jade. • The HKTB will provide a satellite feed of the celebrations to international TV stations.

Reminders

• Transport arrangements on land: o On the day of the event, special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in various parts of Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai from 6:00pm, 8:00pm, 9:00pm onwards, respectively. o Details will be announced by the Transport Department in due course. Members of the public can visit the department’s website ( www.td.gov.hk ) for the latest updates.

• Transport arrangements by sea: o The central will be closed to marine traffic from 11pm on 31 December 2013 to about 1am on 1 January 2014. o The landing steps at Public Pier will be closed from 9:30pm on 31 December 2013 to about 2am on 1 January 2014. o The Marine Department will patrol Victoria Harbour to supervise and prevent boats from entering the specific marine area. The Marine Department will also inform cruise tour operators and other stakeholders of the event arrangements in advance.

o The Marine Police will assist in maintaining order in Victoria Harbour on the night of the event. o Details will be announced by the Marine Department in due course. Members of the public can visit the department’s website (www.mardep.gov.hk ) for the latest updates. o Prior to the event, the HKTB will remind cruise tour operators to take note and adhere to the event day arrangements and the guidelines imposed by the Marine Department.
