Volunteering Events Calendar 2017 Richmond May Fair Richmond Green 13 May 2017, 10:00—18:00 The event Richmond May Fair is an annual community event taking place on Richmond Green. It features entertainment, food retailers, local community organisations and businesses and fairground rides and attractions. Volunteer roles The Poppy Factory has a stall at the event where we sell items from the shop, raise awareness of our work to the local community and promote our upcoming events. We will be looking for a team of volunteers for shifts throughout the day. Volunteers required 9 Trumpeters’ House Trumpeters’ House Garden Party Old Palace Yard, Richmond Green 28 May 2017, 13:00 - 17:30 The event Trumpeters’ House sits on the site of the old Richmond Palace, nestled between Richmond Green and the River Thames. Each year we give visitors the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens, enjoy tea and cake on the lawn and join in with some garden games. Volunteer roles We are looking for a team of volunteers to help the event run smoothly on the day. There will be a variety of roles that we need help with on the day, including: Ticketing Information stand and guest hosting Running games Serving refreshments Clearing and washing up Volunteers required 25 Armed Forces Week Celebratory Concert St John the Divine Church, Kew Road 21 June 2017, 17:30 - 22:00 The event Each year we hold a summer concert to mark Armed Forces Week, celebrating the work of the Armed Forces and promoting our support of disabled veterans to the local community. The concert is hosted by radio broadcaster Jamie Crick and features one of the fantastic military bands. Volunteer roles We are looking for a team of volunteers to help us with the following roles on the evening of the concert: Ticketing Guest hosting and information Serving refreshments Running the raffle Promoting awareness of our work Volunteers required 4 Prudential RideLondon Drinks station Richmond Park 30 July 2017, 06:30—12:00 The event Prudential RideLondon is an annual three-day festival of cycling, developed by the Mayor of London as part of the Olympic Legacy. Amongst the events is the RideLondon-Surrey 100, a 100-mile challenge on the same closed roads as the professionals, with the added incentive of raising money for good causes. Volunteer roles TeamPoppyFactory will be swapping red for orange and helping to run the RideLondon drinks station in Richmond Park. There’s a fantastic atmosphere at the event and in return for our help The Poppy Factory receives a donation and a guaranteed entry into the event the following year which we can use to raise even more funds for our work! We’re also looking for volunteers to help us cheer on our rider as they pass through Kingston and support them on their way. Volunteers required 10+ Challenge Cheer points Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 Richmond Park 30 July 2017 As well volunteering on the water station, you can help motivate the Team Poppy Factory cyclists as they ride 100 miles through London and Surrey. Richmond RunFest Old Deer Park and Richmond Riverside 16 and 17 September 2017 Cheer on our fantastic runners as they pound the pavements of Kew Gardens and beyond. Enjoy the festival atmosphere and provide some much needed motivation. Royal Parks Foundation Half Hyde Park 8 October 2017 Support our first ever Royal Parks runners at this iconic and beautiful event, taking in some of the capital’s world famous landmarks and scenic parks. Volunteers required 10-20 at each event Carols at Christmas St Mary’s Church, Twickenham 13 December 2017 The event Celebrate the festive season with The Poppy Factory and the wonderful South London Military Wives Choir. This heart-warming evening is sure to provide you with the perfect start to your Christmas celebrations. Volunteer roles We are looking for a team of volunteers to assist with serving wine, soft drinks and mince pies.
