TerraCycle Internships

Interns at TerraCycle learn the ins-and-outs of eco-capitalism, and social entrepreneurship, and

serve as eco-ambassadors in both a local and global context.

TerraCycle Europe offers 3-6 month volunteer internships on a rolling basis based in our upcycled European headquarters in North-West London. From this office TerraCycle’s recycling programmes in the UK, , , , , , , , , and are all centrally managed.

Internships are open to undergraduates, graduates or recent graduates with a strong interest in green business, eco-capitalism, , recycling or social entrepreneurship. We are always on the lookout for interns who can speak at least one (and more than one is an added bonus) of the following languages - English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.

ABOUT TERRACYCLE

Operating in 21 countries globally, TerraCycle is the world leader in the recycling of generally non-recyclable waste such as pens, coffee capsules, food wrappers / pouches and even butts. We create and administer collection and solution systems for waste that would otherwise be sent to landfill or incineration.

TerraCycle was founded in 2001 by Tom Szaky (then a 20-year-old Princeton University freshman) whose vision has become one of the fastest-growing green companies in the world.

INTERNSHIP TASKS

You will carry out some or all of these support tasks depending on your skills, experience and interests. If you have a particular interest in an area (for instance if you are studying marketing or PR for example) please mention this in your cover letter:

Customer Service

 Support with customer service (web based and over the phone)

 Learn about and support projects related to the activity of TerraCycle in (depending on the country).

 Plan collector outreach (email and phone) and other activities to boost the profile and success of different programmes

Logistics

Research tasks to support:

1. the logistical side of TerraCycle’s recycling programmes

2. Identifying potential new logistic partners

Marcoms  Assist with the planning and execution of customer communications, including monthly newsletters programme updates and contest announcements  Update the website when needed  Co-ordinate campaigns to increase awareness and engagement with the TerraCycle programmes, including organization of contest or participation in industry events  Developing new DIY projects and video content for our brand partners

Social Media

 Gain experience in planning and implementing social media strategies for several social media platforms including , Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram

 Creation of original digital media content including video pieces and campaigns  Reporting of social media statistics to measure success

Public Relations

 Support the creation and adaptation of PR materials such as press releases, FAQ’s, press kits etc

 Research, development and maintaining of press lists

 Liaising with TerraCycle’s collectors to offer them PR support and then developing press releases for their approval before selling in the press releases to local media

 Evaluation of press campaigns and preparing coverage booklets

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

 Recently graduated or working towards a business or environmental related degree

 Must be fluent (spoken and written) in at least one of the following languages – English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish

 Strong aptitude for communications and a good understanding of the internet and social media  Methodical with a good level of attention to detail

 Flexibility, ability to multitask, able to work independently and exercise initiative

 Enthusiastic team player and positive attitude, able to integrate in our small team in London as well as with a virtual team in the US.

Desirable:

 Interest in environmental issues

 Some IT skills
