‘LOVE IN THE FORECAST’ Cast Bios CINDY BUSBY (Leah) – Cindy Busby has been making waves in Hollywood both on the big and small screens. Growing up in Montreal, Canada, Busby always dreamed of becoming an actress. From the time she was a child, she loved performing for an audience, and throughout her elementary school and high school years, she devoted herself to every theater school production. Upon graduating from high school, Busby was accepted into the Professional Theater Program at Dawson College in Montreal and was admitted from amongst hundreds of applicants. The rigorous, three-year training allowed Busby to demonstrate her professionalism, hard work and devotion and was presented with an award of academic excellence. Busby notes her first passion in the business was theater as she honed her acting skills on the stage while in school and right after graduation. In 2005, Busby crossed into television and film and was given her first lead in the story of the Canadian medical hero Norman Bethune in the television series “Bethune.” She filmed in rural China for two and-a-half months and the series attracted several million viewers. In 2006, Busby played a supporting lead in the Lifetime original film “A Life Interrupted” opposite Lea Thompson and landed a regular role on the series “Heartland.” Cast as Ashley Stanton, a rich, self-righteous, competitive horseback rider, the series took off and has been nominated for several Gemini Awards as well as winning a Director’s Guild of Canada prize, all while becoming one of the most popular shows on Canadian television as well as syndicated in over 81 countries around the world.

  • Competition Events Guide
2014-2015 Competition Events Guide Competition Events Guide UPDATED JANUARY 13, 2020 Competition Events Guide Updated January 13, 2020 The purpose of the Competition Events Guide is to assist members in learning about the events the Association offers. It provides insights into how to get started in each event. The guide is not a rules document, but, instead, a tool for understanding the fundamentals of events. There is no document that could adequately explain the ins and outs of every event. Getting to tournaments is the best way to learn about the intricacies of an event. Therefore, this guide is intended to help members get a performance ready and to its first set of tournaments. This guide is not an authoritative source on how speech and debate events should be done. Rather, the materials offered are suggestions for how to get started. The ideas presented are offered by past competitors and coaches to orient members to each event. While the suggestions offered are well thought out and tested, there are innumerable ways people may begin a speech, case, or interpretation. Local event offerings differ, but we’ve noted in the guide whether each event is a main event or supplemental event at the high school and middle school National Tournaments. Students at Nationals can compete in Supplemental events (Supps) after they have been eliminated from main event competition. The most important advice we can offer is simple. Do your best! This means that you should do your best to practice, get to a tournament, and reflect upon your experiences. Speech and debate is a journey.

Boseovski and Stuart Marcovitch "When people say to me, would you rather be thought of as a funny man or a great boss? My answer's always the same: to me, they're not mutually exclusive." -David Brent (British Series, Series 1, "Work Experience") "I guess the atmosphere that I've tried to create here is that I'm a friend first and a boss second, and probably an entertainer third." - Michael Scott (American Series, Season 1, "Pilot") A television series of British origin, The Office is filmed as a mock docu mentary examining the mundane work life of the employees of an unre markable paper supply company. The original British series debuted in 2001 and culminated in 12 episodes, followed by a two-part Christmas special in 2003. The American adaptation premiered in 2005, and while it was slow to develop a following in the United States, it ultimately amassed a sizable viewership and won critical acclaim with a number of major awards, including the 2006 Emmy for outstanding comedy series. 1 Given the number of stunning failures in the adaptation of television shows from Britain to North America,2 the success of The Office is intri guing and likely reflects a focus on issues that are universally relevant, but that have been tailored cleverly to suit the American audience.

During the event, students repeated their de- mands for changes to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to Mangelsdorf directly. This move follows last semester’s overnight occu- pation of the DPS parking lot where URAC protes- tors voiced their demands to University President Sarah Manglesdorf and DPS chief Mark Fischer, who promised further discussion. “[President Manglesdorf] had promised us that night [...] that she would be starting to actually have progress with this mental health task force to institute Daniel’s [Law] on campus, and ensure that cops [...] and campus police do not respond to mental health calls on this campus,” URAC orga- nizer and senior Antoinette Nguyen said. “Howev- er, there’s been no update regarding that.” The protest began at the steps of Rush Rhees Li- brary, where many of their actions have started in the past. • Book Proposal 3
Rock and Roll has Tender Moments too... ! Photographs by Chalkie Davies 1973-1988 ! For as long as I can remember people have suggested that I write a book, citing both my exploits in Rock and Roll from 1973-1988 and my story telling abilities. After all, with my position as staff photographer on the NME and later The Face and Arena, I collected pop stars like others collected stamps, I was not happy until I had photographed everyone who interested me. However, given that the access I had to my friends and clients was often unlimited and 24/7 I did not feel it was fair to them that I should write it all down. I refused all offers. Then in 2010 I was approached by the National Museum of Wales, they wanted to put on a retrospective of my work, this gave me a special opportunity. In 1988 I gave up Rock and Roll, I no longer enjoyed the music and, quite simply, too many of my friends had died, I feared I might be next. So I put all of my negatives into storage at a friends Studio and decided that maybe 25 years later the images you see here might be of some cultural significance, that they might be seen as more than just pictures of Rock Stars, Pop Bands and Punks. That they even might be worthy of a Museum. So when the Museum approached me three years ago with the idea of a large six month Retrospective in 2015 I agreed, and thought of doing the usual thing and making a Catalogue.

Holte1 ABSTRACT This Article focuses on the early stage of commercialization communication when a third-party inventor owns an invention protected by a patent that a manufacturer-commercializer may profit from producing—long before any allegation of infringement or litigation. These submission-review communications by unaffiliated third parties are covered by corporate policies known as “patent submission policies.” They are the figurative “front doors” to a company for any third-party inventor, crucial to the commercialization of inventions generally. Unfortunately, patent submission policies have thus far remained unstudied in legal academic scholarship. This Article collects and analyzes the current variations of patent submission policies adopted by the largest companies within four technical industries: automotive; computer hardware; computer services; and pharmaceutical.
