'LOVE in the FORECAST' Cast Bios CINDY BUSBY (Leah) – Cindy
‘LOVE IN THE FORECAST’ Cast Bios CINDY BUSBY (Leah) – Cindy Busby has been making waves in Hollywood both on the big and small screens. Growing up in Montreal, Canada, Busby always dreamed of becoming an actress. From the time she was a child, she loved performing for an audience, and throughout her elementary school and high school years, she devoted herself to every theater school production. Upon graduating from high school, Busby was accepted into the Professional Theater Program at Dawson College in Montreal and was admitted from amongst hundreds of applicants. The rigorous, three-year training allowed Busby to demonstrate her professionalism, hard work and devotion and was presented with an award of academic excellence. Busby notes her first passion in the business was theater as she honed her acting skills on the stage while in school and right after graduation. In 2005, Busby crossed into television and film and was given her first lead in the story of the Canadian medical hero Norman Bethune in the television series “Bethune.” She filmed in rural China for two and-a-half months and the series attracted several million viewers. In 2006, Busby played a supporting lead in the Lifetime original film “A Life Interrupted” opposite Lea Thompson and landed a regular role on the series “Heartland.” Cast as Ashley Stanton, a rich, self-righteous, competitive horseback rider, the series took off and has been nominated for several Gemini Awards as well as winning a Director’s Guild of Canada prize, all while becoming one of the most popular shows on Canadian television as well as syndicated in over 81 countries around the world. -

Friend, Boss, and Entertainer? the Embattled Self As a Guiding Theme in the British and American Productions of the Office
American Remakes of British Television Transformations and Mistranslations Edited by Carlen Lavigne and Heather Marcovitch ~~'" LEXINGTON BooKS A division of ROWMAN & LITTLEFIELD PUBLISHERS, INC. Lanham· Boulder· New York· Toronto· Plymouth, UK EIGHT Friend, Boss, and Entertainer? The Embattled Self as a Guiding Theme in the British and American Productions of The Office Janet J. Boseovski and Stuart Marcovitch "When people say to me, would you rather be thought of as a funny man or a great boss? My answer's always the same: to me, they're not mutually exclusive." -David Brent (British Series, Series 1, "Work Experience") "I guess the atmosphere that I've tried to create here is that I'm a friend first and a boss second, and probably an entertainer third." - Michael Scott (American Series, Season 1, "Pilot") A television series of British origin, The Office is filmed as a mock docu mentary examining the mundane work life of the employees of an unre markable paper supply company. The original British series debuted in 2001 and culminated in 12 episodes, followed by a two-part Christmas special in 2003. The American adaptation premiered in 2005, and while it was slow to develop a following in the United States, it ultimately amassed a sizable viewership and won critical acclaim with a number of major awards, including the 2006 Emmy for outstanding comedy series. 1 Given the number of stunning failures in the adaptation of television shows from Britain to North America,2 the success of The Office is intri guing and likely reflects a focus on issues that are universally relevant, but that have been tailored cleverly to suit the American audience. -

Holte: Patent Submission Policies PATENT SUBMISSION POLICIES Ryan T. Holte1 ABSTRACT This Article focuses on the early stage of commercialization communication when a third-party inventor owns an invention protected by a patent that a manufacturer-commercializer may profit from producing—long before any allegation of infringement or litigation. These submission-review communications by unaffiliated third parties are covered by corporate policies known as “patent submission policies.” They are the figurative “front doors” to a company for any third-party inventor, crucial to the commercialization of inventions generally. Unfortunately, patent submission policies have thus far remained unstudied in legal academic scholarship. This Article collects and analyzes the current variations of patent submission policies adopted by the largest companies within four technical industries: automotive; computer hardware; computer services; and pharmaceutical. -
