He has done an excellent job for the group over many years. We need a replacement, preferably as soon as possible so that a smooth hand over can be arranged. SOCIAL SECRETARY Chris Southwell will be our next Social Secretary. A big thank you to Chris! At the AGM Kathy told us she will be standing down as Social Secretary later this year. We all know what a great job Kathy has done; Chris will be working with her over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition. Also thank you to the volunteers who have offered to help, all offers gratefully accepted, many hands make light work. THANK YOU TO OUR WALK LEADERS A warm welcome to our new leaders Jessica : Jean : Tony : Marie & Michael WALKS FOR THE NEXT PROGRAMME More volunteers to lead walks are still needed. We've managed to fill nearly all the slots in this programme, but it's becoming increasingly difficult as age catches up with some of our most experienced leaders. CHANGES TO WALKS IN THE PROGRAMME In the last few months unsafe ground conditions and scheduled road closures have been forced us to cancel some walks. There are several ways to keep up to date with these changes - Look at the updates on the group web site : Google calendar users can link up to the Group calendar and have all our walks at a glance with updates sent automatically (see the web site for details) : sign up for our urgent news e mails e mailing members with urgent news. Many members have been receiving these e mails, but if you aren't on the list yet and you'd like to be on the circulation please give your latest e mail address to Chris Frost (contact details on page 15) SOCIAL EVENTS AND SPECIAL WALKS Thanks to Mary and Jed for the Quiz Night. Thanks to Kathy and her team for the Pre Christmas Lunch : New Year's Day Social : New Year's Dinner. We can look forward to the Chairman’s Walk which is followed by tea & cakes, and where we would love to hear your thoughts on the way the group promotes itself and any ideas you have of attracting new members see page 8 for details. In June we can look forward Sue’s walk and lunch at Hyde and the coach trip to Bath. More details and the booking form are in the "Social Scene" on pages 12 and 13.
