WEED WARRIORS, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 9AM: We plan to meet at marker #13 where we met last Saturday and continue the good work we started. Marker #13 is where the paved trail leading down from the employee parking lot and pool building meets the paved trail coming up from the lake. We can use clippers, loppers, and saws. Long sleeves and gloves are a good idea. New warriors are always welcome. UNIVERSITY OF MD CHAMBER OF MUSIC CONCERT, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 3PM – AUDITORIUM: Please come hear UMD chamber groups perform music by Prokofiev, Beethoven, and Saint-Saën at Auditorium. ANNAPOLIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, ANNAPOLIS, MD: Collington will NOT be providing transportation to this event due to not enough people signing up. EPISCOPAL SERVICE, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 10AM – CHAPEL: Rev. Gerry Ash, Resident, is our Celebrant. NEIGHBOR TALK, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 7PM – AUDITORIUM: When Sipra Johnson thinks back to her childhood and her home town, she does not conjure up a quiet place far removed from world events. She remembers instead, India’s evolution into the world’s largest democracy. She will share with us in the Auditorium at 7PM on Tuesday! COURIER DEADLINE: Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, all Courier submissions are to be emailed to Bianca Williams no later than 12 Noon on Wednesday, November 21. THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 7PM – CHAPEL: Please mark your calendars for a service next Wednesday, November 21, at 7:00 in the Walker Interfaith Chapel. The service will include reflections from different traditions, as well as familiar Thanksgiving music. It is a fine and quiet time to think of those many things for which we are all thankful. THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CLOSINGS AT COLLINGTON: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22: Thanksgiving is a holiday for most staff. The Clocktower, Fitness Center, Pool, Admin offices, Salon 2226, Bank, etc. will be closed. There will be no S.A.G.E. classes OR Doctor/Grocery store Shuttles. The New Carrollton Shuttle will run on the Sunday schedule – 9AM, 10 AM, 11 AM 1PM, 4 PM, 5 PM. For all other activities please consult the chairperson. EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION DRIVE: The Deadline is fast approaching - DEC 3rd. “Without that check I couldn’t have bought my car last year.” “My mother lives in Sierra Leone. This check pays her rent in January for the whole year.” “I use the money to buy all my grandchildren their Christmas presents.” You can see how meaningful our gifts are to our employees. So far, we have collected $152,806 from 181 residents. Please remind your friends and neighbors about the fund drive. Believe it or not, everyone does not read the Courier! And please don’t wait for the last day; our treasurer, Linda Ewald, will be swamped.
