4 The 13th Annual Art Contest For all Junior Exhibitors

For the art contest this year, we are asking Junior Exhibitors to create a HAT to wear AFTER the Thursday afternoon session. Entries must be completed prior to the show or by the beginning of the morning session Thursday, June 25th, 2020

This year, the theme is KENTUCKY DERBY HATS

The winner will be announced Thursday afternoon after the last scheduled class of the session. Junior Exhibitors will be invited into center ring wearing their hats and will be judged by the officials in the center ring. The top three hats will be awarded as winners!!

5 EXHIBITOR INFORMATION

ENTRIES CLOSE MAY 22, 2020. Entries postmarked later than May 22 will be charged a post entry fee of $25 per horse. All will be charged a non-refundable office fee of $30. Management reserves the right to refuse a Post Entry in classes where the additional entry would make it necessary to split the class. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide any class where it is deemed advisable and to reschedule any divided class. Although post entries will be accepted until a session begins, a class may be cancelled at the beginning of a session due to insufficient entries at that time. Management reserves the right to decline any entry and to return any entry fees before or during the show without being liable for compensation. An agent may make entries for more than one owner, but each owner must be entered on a separate signed entry form. Entries are payable in U.S. Funds only. A $50 fee will be charged to exhibitors who fail to pay their fees before leaving the show. A $25 fine will be assessed to any exhibitor failing to notify the Horse Show Office of a scratch before the beginning of the session. Returned Checks/Declined Credit Card Policy: There will be a $25 charge for returned checks or declined credit cards presented as payment for horse show fees. Within 5 days of receiving notification from the bank and/or credit card company, the secretary or designated show representative will send a registered letter to the person presenting the check or credit card. If payment is not received in the form of a certified check, money order or cash within 2 weeks of notification, the exhibitor will be turned into the USEF for non-payment of fees. Fines to the USEF because of non-negotiable funds can run as high as $750. may not be entered in classes specifying ladies or junior exhibitors to ride or drive.

Junior Exhibitors are those who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1 of the previous show year.

Amateur Status (GR 105) – Only active Federation members may obtain Amateur status. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for Amateurs under Federation rules must possess current Amateur status issued by the Federation. (Exception: not required for Opportunity classes). This status must be available for inspection, or the competitor must have lodged with the competition secretary at least one hour prior to such class, an application for such status provided by the Federation. Amateur status will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause.

Morgan Entries. Horses shown in this division must be registered with the American Morgan Horse Association Inc., or an organization having registry reciprocity, (Canadian Morgan Horse Association, British Morgan Horse Society, Swedish Morgan Horse Society). Horses must be entered under their full registered name or if under one year of age be eligible for registration. Horses must be entered under the names of the owner(s) or lessee of record. A copy of the registration papers showing recorded ownership or proof of lease must be submitted with entry form at the time of making entry. Saddlebred Entries. A copy of registration papers showing proof of ownership or a copy of the registration papers with a Certificate of Eligibility to show issued by the Registry must be submitted be presented to the horse show office before a competition number

6 will be released. Owners and trainers must be members of ASHA. Membership applications will be available in the horse show office.

Morgan and Saddlebred. No stripping in any championship classes. Pony Entries. Day and time of measuring will be announced at the show. Ponies without permanent USEF measurement cards must be measured before they are shown. UPHA Classics. In order to show in a UPHA Classic, all horses and ponies must be registered with their appropriate breed registry and MUST be shown under their registered name. A non- refundable Eligibility Fee of $100 must be paid to the UPHA Office postmarked on or before April 1st of each year. After April 1st, the Eligibility Fee becomes $150 per horse. Payment of the eligibility Fee will be made in the name of the entered horse or pony and will make that animal eligible to compete in all UPHA Classics classes held that year. Eligibility entry forms are available on the UPHA web site. The professional trainer and owner of a UPHA Classic entry must be an active member of the UPHA. If a non-professional is exhibiting the horse, they must be an Associate or Junior member. All monies collected in each Classic will be dispersed in that class. Prize money in a $250 Added Money Classic is divided as follows: $150 is deducted from the total, with $50 going to fourth, fifth and sixth places. Of the balance, 50% is paid to first place, 30% to second place and 20% to third place. If there were only 2 entries, the total prize money would be split 60% and 40%. If only 3 entries show, the original percentages would apply, without the $150 deduction. In case of only one entry, that entry would receive 100% of the total.

Arrival of Entries: Stalls are available for occupancy at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, and stalls must be vacated by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020. An exhibitor requiring an exception to these limits must make prior arrangements with Liz Holmes @ 919-672-3741. Stabling: Entries wishing to be stabled together must indicate so on each individual’s Stabling List and Entry Blank. Please identify yourself by using the Farm or Individual’s name on the

7 Entry Blank. Stalls added after the stabling chart is completed will be assigned in the closest available proximity to the original group. Permanent and temporary stalls, in permanent buildings are 10 X 10 with doors and concrete floors. Annex stalls have dirt floors. Stalls in Main and DVM Barns $140 Stalls in Dairy Barn $140 Annex Stalls (attached to DVM Barn) $110 Standing Stalls Main Barn $75 Fire and Safety Regulations: The following must be adhered to in accordance with the rules of the NYS Fairgrounds and NY State. NO SMOKING in any building on the grounds. Fireproof material must be used for all stall decorations. The main aisles of the barns must always remain accessible. Bedding material is not permitted on the aisle floors. Sharps: Management requests that exhibitors comply with USEF Rule GR 1210 regarding “SHARPS.” Exhibitors must dispose of sharps in containers provided throughout the stable areas. Failure to do so will result in a fine. Campers: Campers and RV’s must be parked in designated areas, which are on a “first come, first served” basis. Camper fee is $210 for the week. Water and electricity are available in all locations. Sewers are available in some locations. Campers requiring heavy duty power should ask for a location that will satisfy those needs. All campers much display a permit issued by the show office. Ring Dimensions: Coliseum 108’ X 236’. Schooling ring 85’ X 190’. Both rings have sand surfaces. Additional sand warm-up area in Dairy Barn. Dogs must always be restrained on a leash or tied inside a tack room. Loose dogs are subject to seizure by animal control. Exhibitors are expected to clean up after their dogs, particularly in areas adjacent to campers and food service facilities. All Vehicles must be parked in areas designated by Management. Absolutely NO bicycle riding or roller blading inside any building. Exhibitors’ attention is directed to USEF Rule GR401 pertaining to Drugs and Medications and to Rule GR 801 pertaining to Headgear. Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles if they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent/legal guardian, or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for penalties against those responsible for the child committing the offense. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. The unsafe use of personal electronic transport devices, as determined by the competition officials and management in their sole discretion, that do not require a driver’s license to operate, including but not limited to Segway’s, hover boards, and single wheeled scooters is prohibited on competition grounds. Operating such devices in areas where people gather may be deemed “unsafe use” if there is a risk of harm to others. If the operator of the device is a minor, the parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as parent or guardian of a minor operating the device in violation of this rule is accountable and may be subject to penalties. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. MOTORIZED VEHICLES MAY NOT BE DRIVEN OR PARKED INSIDE THE BARN AT ANY TIME.

8 The Show Committee, its agents and employees assume no responsibility for any accident occurring to any exhibitor, groom, attendant, animal or equipment at the show. The Show committee assumes no responsibility for loss of, or destruction of any property, equipment or damages to, or by animals exhibiting at the show, while on the grounds or stabling area.

The coliseum will be available for schooling on Tuesday. An exercise schedule will be posted in the show office. QUIET SCHOOLING Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday—5:00–5:30 PM

NOTE: No classes will be added, moved or split (unless numbers warrant for safety) once the schedule is published.

Health requirements The following Health Requirements MUST be met by all horses. A New York State Inspector will attend the horse show. Proof of current Rabies Inoculation administered within 12 months of current show dates and Proof of Influenza and Herpes vaccines within six months per USEF GR845 must be presented for each horse. Horses stabled in NY State must present a Negative Coggins certificate dated in 2019 or 2020. Attach a legible copy to your entry blank. Horses stabled outside NY State must present a Negative Coggins certificate dated SINCE 6/10/2019. Attach a legible copy to your entry blank. AND A current Health Certificate, dated within 30 days of your arrival in NY State, from your local veterinarian. CANADA Health Requirements for our purposes are the same as for horses stabled outside NY State.

Positively no numbers will be issued until appropriate health papers are presented in the horse show office.

CHECKS AND CREDIT CARDS Please be reminded that entry and stalls fees are due when entries are made. All checks will be deposited, and all credit cards will be charged when entries are processed.

CREDIT CARDS Credit cards are charged an additional 5% convenience fee. In order to save these additional charges, exhibitors are encouraged to pay their fees by cash or check.

EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT US EQUESTRIAN REDERATION RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. “Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined

9 Competitions, , Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Breeding classes.

NEW THIS YEAR: Please be aware that, if your horse/pony is owned by a corporation, farm, entity or LLC, that corporation, farm, entity or LLC must hold a membership to USEF. If a person is owner of the above, USEF will not count that as a membership. YOU must use the proper form on the USEF site to record and pay for a corporation, farm or LLC membership or pay a show pass fee.
