3349 North Halsted SidetrackChicago.com the dj, the music and you by DJ Res-5 Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist: Okay it’s not infinite but what really is?

This is the infinite playlist column because I am going to dig through my iTunes library and tell you about a bunch of the cool songs you should check out. Okay? Okay. Now, let’s begin!

From the Italian label Time Records is the new single from Sergio D’Angelo featuring Andrea Love entitled “To The Sky.” The Chriss Ortega mix is why you should check this one out. It’s a strong track that doesn’t require a lot of tricks. The vocals from Ms. Love are so on-point, I was hunting to buy this on the net the second I heard the streaming edit on their Web site (www.timeres.it). No disrespect to Mr. Ron Carroll, but this is everything “What A Wonderful World” should have been; what makes this track shine are strong diva vocals with an actual message of hope, as opposed to merely the image of it. I don’t know what label is picking this up stateside, but they will Item Of The Month be lucky if they do.

Next song on the infinite playlist is “If You Seek Amy” by Britney Spears. Of Course, the hub-bub is that if you say it out loud, it sounds more like “ If U. C. K. me,” if you catch my drift. Of Britney, the drama and Fox news controversy is so much fun on a drab day. It almost takes away the sting of being alone on Valentine’s. What a cruel world! The remixes should be coming soon, I know I have seen To see more and some bootlegs. for more information, go to Okay, so this infinite playlist www.LeatherArchives.org only has three tracks, the last of which is Diva by Be- yoncé. It’s her new single, and a good choice. Well, at least it is after hair, make-up, TAKE A BITE and music video are all in place. ADVERTISE YOUR RESTAURANT [email protected] : open 24 hours. We’ve all been there. You have a date and you want to go to a bar afterwards because you don’t think it’s going to work out with this one and why delay finding the next one, right? I know. I’ve been there.

Go to Las Mañanitas at 3523 N. Halsted St. It’s cheap. It’s easy. It’s right there. Wow, that could describe the last date that I took there. You can Gettin’ hot, hot, hot at the 3rd annual Chili Cookoff at get a foundation buzz going and eat some OK Mexican food. Just make sure to avoid the musi- Crew photos by Kirk cal fruit or else there will be a “ring of solitude” around you at the bar later.

I had the chimichanga Cancun last time I was there and I have to caution to skip that dish. The shrimp didn’t taste fresh and the sauce was weird. Stick to the staples and you’ll be fine. The tacos, enchiladas and burritos are quite tasty and come in good-sized portions. Of course, have Margaritas. If your date continually talks about his last boyfriend and then calls him from the table, have four.

You say your goodbyes, walk him home, and pre- tend to head home until you are out of his sight range. Then, dodge into a bar to find Mr. Next.

“Whine Up,” the debut single from Dominican singer Kat De Luna’s 9 Lives CD went gold, with a little help from Elephant Man and producer Akon. 24 February 11, 2009 Flirting For Disaster with the Red Cross and Northalsted Area Merchants Assn. at IntermissionPSME 2.0 JEF 8FJSE facebook’s 25 random things It’s a full-fledged, out-of-control meme on Facebook. If you use the service, odds are you’ve seen (and been tagged to fill out) a 25 Random Things About Me note. Normally, here at the Weird, the snark cup overfloweths and I would react much as Time curmudgeon Claire Suddath did in her recent column 25 Things I Didn’t Want to Know About You. However, I typically reserve my snark for people other than my friends. I’d never call them stupid, unfunny, or uninsightful (at least not in print) and I certainly wouldn’t spill any of their 25 Things (even anonymously) in the pages of Time magazine to fill up a column I was too lazy to write. But then, I’m also not a friend-whore who has connections that I’d “barely recognize in real life.” (Oh, and for the record, my friends are intelligent, funny, and insightful. I guess we’re measured by the company we keep, huh, Claire? I think someone’s friend list is going to be getting a touch shorter in the coming days but since you barely recognize them, you won’t miss them.) Rather than pilfering from my friends, here are 15 of my 25 Things. I’d have given you all 25, but after having to waste space bitchslapping Claire, there wasn’t room. At least it gives you a taste of the idea.
