Kumar Shubhashish Pathak Tabla & Pakhawaj Exponent Shubhashish Pathak hails from a renowned music family of Amta (Darbhanga Gharana), located in the Mithila region which has been a seat of knowledge, art and culture from ancient times. Nurtured from childhood under the guidance of the maestro and his (Guru) father Mridangacharya Pandit Ramashish Pathak, years of guidance and rigorous practice have sharpened his skills and stern devotion to music has made him acquire the finer aspects of playing Tabla & Pakhawaj. He has accompanied many renowned maestro like; Pandit Abhay Narayan Maliick, Pandit Ram Kumar Mallick, Pandit Prem Kumar Mallick, Vidushi Madhu Bhat Tailang, Usatad Mohi Bahauddin Dager (Rudra Veena), Pandit Ashok Pathak (Sitar), Pandit Rajendera Gangani (Kathak ), Vidushi Sikha Khare(Kathak) etc. In his playing skill & tact the clarity of bols, pure pronounciation of words, soulful and clean padhant, rare chand and stuti, rare bandish, ancient parans and paral, resonance and preparations of marvelous relas with veer rasa and shringar rasa and minute intricacies of rhythm are the main characteristics of his Tabla & Pakhawaj playing. He has brilliant command over his father famous Rela and many smaller tunes are really commendable. He has done Masters in percussion Instruments from Punjabi University Patiala (Punjab) and also done Grade in Western music Guitar (Rock & Pop) from Trinity College of London. He is a regular artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Currently, he is working in the department of music at Government College for Girls, Gurugram (Haryana). He has brilliant command over various percussion and non-percussion instruments like Naal, Dholak ,Guitar, Punjabi Dhol, Keyboard, Dabruka etc .He has also produced and conducted live Orchestra several times which was consisting of more than 150 students for Amity International School (Ghaziabad) that was appreciated by the audience. AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENT : He has been awarded ‘Young Artist Scholarship Award’ in the field of Hindustani instruments (Classical music ) by Govt. of India, HRD (Ministry of Culture), New Delhi and got senior scholarship under the training program from Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi. He has received ‘Award of honor’ by Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University Patiala. Apart from this he has gained ‘Sangeet Sadhak Samman’ by Navodit Kalakar Samiti, Rajghat, New Delhi ; ‘Yuva Kalakar Samman’ from Padmashree Pt. Siyaram Tiwari Memorial Trust at Hindi Bhawan, Patna. He has acquired ‘Kaka Kalelkar Samman’ for the contribution in the field of Hindustani Classical Music at Gandhi Hindustani Sahitya Sabha, Rajghat, New Delhi in 2017. : PERFORMANCES He has performed at prestigious music festivals like; • ‘Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Sammellan’ accompanied with Dhrupad Maestro Pandit Abhay Narayan Mallick Live telecast DD Bharti Jalandhar. • 50th Swarna Jayanti Samaroh of Doordarshan organised by Doordarshan in Muzaffarpur, 2010 • Common Wealth Games, 2010, New Delhi • Performed with his father and Guru Mridangacharya Late Pandit Ramashish Pathak in ‘Dhrupad Jugalbandi’ organized and live telecast by DD Bharti, Bhopal 2011. • ‘Taal Vadya Kachari’ organized by DD Bharti, New Delhi 2011 • Tabla & Pakhawaj solo at Baba Harvallabh Sangeet Research Akademi, Jalandhar. • ‘Sa Ma Pa Sangeet Vibhuti festival’ Doyens of Indian Classical Music in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, 2009 • ‘Dhrupad Samaroh’ organized at Jawahar kala Kendra Jaipur (Rajasthan). • Dhrupad festival dedicated to Latet Ustad Zia Fariddudin Dagar,Udaipur 2013. • Tigulbandi at ‘Pakhawaj Parv’ dedicated to world renowned Mridangacharya Late Pandit Ramashish Pathak at Pune (Maharastra) live telecast by DD Bharti Mumbai.. • ‘Bihar Mahotsav’ organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi at Mandi House, New Delhi. • ‘Pakhawaj TigulbandiI’ in Bihar Mahotsav at Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal. • ‘Heritage Music Festival’ by Spic Macay at IIT Roorkee. • Accompaniment with Ustad Mohi Bahauddin Dager(Rudra Veena) in ‘Dhrupad Sandhaya’ in the memory of Padmashree Siyaram Tiwari at Bihar Urdu Academy, Patna. • Performed Vadya Vrind with Acharya Sangeet Pathak at Stein Auditorium IHC, New Delhi, 2018. He has performed successfully with his Guru Mridangacharya Pandit Ramashish Pathak in several concerts which is very much remarkable and appreciated by the audience. .
